  • Every year on 1 July,

a new president takes office at Rotary
International

and presents a new theme for the year.

Since 1910,
there have been 94 world presidents starting
with founder Paul Harris, the only RI president
to serve for two years.

In the organizations first century,
presidents have hailed from 22 countries in
every part of the world.

The first non-U.S. president
E. LESLIE PIDGEON1917-18
was Canadian Leslie Pidgeon in 1917-18.

In 1931,
Sydney Pascall of London, England, became the
first president who was not from North America.
He was also one of the original creators of the
four Avenues of Service.
