  • Going green in the automotive industry began
several years ago with the introduction of lower
    emission standards
  • Environmental focus has expanded to encompass
greater fuel economy and alternate fuel sources
  • Providing environmentally friendly products is
    becoming the norm across industries

4
Benefits of Greener Companies
  • Society of Human Resources Survey (SHRM) 2008
    Green Workplace Study
  • Companies say its not easy being green, but the
    benefits are great
  • 44 Improved morale

Improving Fuel Economy and Range
  • Chrysler LLC, Mercedes-Benz, General Motors and
BMW have joined forces to develop an advanced
    two-mode hybrid system
  • Represents a major automotive industry milestone
  • First Chrysler products to feature technology
will be the 2009 Dodge Durango Hybrid and 2009
    Chrysler Aspen Hybrid
  • Global Electric Motorcars (GEM), a Chrysler LLC
Company, has been in operation for almost 10
    years
  • Battery-electric vehicles represent a relatively
new vehicle in an emerging market segment
  • ENVI organization responsible for bringing
    electric-drive vehicles and related
    advanced-propulsion technologies to market

8
Developing Products that Minimize Impact on the
Environment
  • Chrysler LLC has been an automotive industry
environmental pioneer for the past 15 years
  • In 1993, the former Chrysler Corporation was the
first manufacturer to produce vehicles meeting
    Californias Low Emission Vehicle, Ultra-Low
Emission Vehicle and partial Zero Emission
    Vehicle standards
  • Today, Chrysler LLC has promised that 50 of its
vehicles will be capable of running on
alternative fuels such as ethanol and biodiesel
    by 2012
  • Currently have 11 models available as an
    E85-capable Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV)
  • Chrysler has sold more than 1.5 million FFVs in
    the past decade
  • Dodge Ram with 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel
already meets the EPAs stringent 2010 emission
    standards

9
2009 Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango Hybrids
  • Hybrid fuel efficiency combined with full-size
    SUV performance, capability and utility
  • HEMI with Multiple Displacement System coupled
    with hybrid technology
  • Combination of low- and high-speed electric
    continuously variable transmission (ECVT) modes
    creates advanced, two-mode hybrid
  • Delivers more than 25 percent overall fuel
    economy improvement
  • Full-size SUVs boast nearly 40 percent fuel
    economy improvement in the city
  • 6,000 pounds towing capability

10
Concept Vehicles and Technology from ENVI
  • Range extended electric vehicle technology (REEV)
  • Eco-friendly -- minimizes use of materials
  • Combines 40-mile lithium-ion battery pack with
three different ways of addressing energy
    concerns
  • Jeep Renegade clean diesel REEV
  • Dodge ZEO All electric
  • Chrysler ecoVoyager hydrogen fuel cell powered

11
Special Edition 10th Anniversary GEM
  • Commemorates 10 years of green transportation at
    Global Electric Motorcars LLC
  • Battery-powered, zero tailpipe emission vehicles
  • Available as 2-, 4- and 6-passenger models,
    utility vehicles
  • More than 35,000 GEM neighborhood electric
    vehicles worldwide
  • Recognized by WestStart-CALSTART with 2007 Blue
Sky Merit Award for its positive impact on air
    quality in California

12
Reinvesting in and Preserving the Environment
  • In recent years, Chrysler LLC has invested more
than 10 billion in communities where we have our
    roots
  • Billions of dollars have been spent to construct
or refurbish production facilities, or in some
cases, support local developers to ensure
industrious use of the sites, including more than
165 million to recondition Brownfield sites
  • Over the past 15 years, nearly 40 sites have
    undergone environmental and economic
    transformation

13
Greening our Manufacturing Operations
  • Two of Chryslers facilities, the Newark,
Delaware Assembly Plant and the Global Engine
    Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA) in Dundee,
    Michigan have achieved zero-waste-to-landfill
    status
  • All Chrysler facilities in Mexico are zero
wastewater discharge facilities In recent years
  • Chrysler is the world leader in applying powder
primer technology to our products resulting in
no emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
    or hazardous air pollutants (HAPs)
  • Since 1991, the company has researched recycling
technologies aimed at reducing the amount of a
    vehicle that goes to landfill

14
Chrysler Engineering Careers
  • Engineering innovation is vital to remain
competitive and successfully carry out our future
    product plan
  • Equally important is our ability to attract,
    retain and motivate top talent
  • Many years ago, the dual career ladder structure
was implemented in support of these objectives
  • Structure provides a mechanism to leverage the
resources, skills and talents of our workforce
while providing individuals an opportunity to
enjoy a career path based on their professional
    interests and aspirations
