Conclusion
  • IEEE 802.16 supported by 400 and more WiMAX
    industry members
  • Marketing/Regulations/promotions and Network
related specifications are done by WiMAX forum
  • IEEE 802.20 has no such industry forum support
    yet.
  • IEEE 802.20 is dominated by a small number of
    companies
  • Around 50-60 Working Group members from same
    camp
  • IEEE 802.16e mobile enhancement is already
    approved as standard
  • 802.16e has an open IPR policy
  • IEEE 802.16e and its evolution can fulfill MBWA
    requirement
  • Multiple MBWA standards will result in market
    fragmentation
