1Marañon Basin Block E
Marañon Basin Block E-04
2Marañon E-04 Location Map
- Block Configuration - 6980 Km2
- Located between the production of Chambira Este
Field to the north and Yanayacu Field to the
south - The pipeline runs from east to west along the
southern boundary of the block - 6 Wells drilled on the Block
- Cuinico Sur and Norte may have been poorly
located with respect to the structures being
tested - Diana Mae and Santa Marta drilled on subtle and
questionable structures
3Marañon E-04 Regional Composite Seismic Line
U. Tert Mks
- Eastward truncation of undifferentiated Lower

potion of the block - Reversal of Pozo to U. Tertiary paleo-structures

4Marañon E-04 Regional Block Maps
- The Marañon Basin hingeline along which most of
the oil production in the Basin has been found,
dissects the block into two provinces the
shallower eastern platform and the beginning of
the western deep Basin (foredeep) - Source rock Pucará
Base Cretaceous 2WT CI 10msec
5Marañon E-04 Regional Block Maps
- There are a number of mappable paleo-structures
within Block E-04 - Most of these do not have any Quechua aged
reactivation
Pozo to Base Cretaceous Isochron CI 5msec
6Marañon E-04 Oil ReMigration Story
- Yanayacu South Paleo-Structure is 574 Km2
- Vertical relief gt 20 msec.
- With breaching of accumulation in Tertiary time
remigration of HCs into Pastococha, Yanayacu
Majas, and Cuinico Areas - Secondary remigration source of approximately 150
Km2 to west of Cuinico Sur
Pozo to Base Cretaceous Isochron CI 5msec
7Marañon E-04 Oil ReMigration Story
- Yanayacu South Paleo-Structure is 574 Km2
- Vertical relief gt 20 msec.
- With breaching of accumulation in Tertiary time
remigration of HCs into Pastococha, Yanayacu
Majas, and Cuinico Areas - Secondary remigration source of approximately 150
Km2 to west of Cuinico Sur

existed within the Cretaceous section during the
Early Tertiary and one of the possible
remigration routes during Late Tertiary
9Marañon E-04 Oil ReMigration Story
- Other significant Paleo-Structures appear
probably exist in the northern portion of the
Block - Probably responsible for the oil charge of
Chambira Este
Pozo to Base Cretaceous Isochron CI 5msec
10Marañon E-04 Oil ReMigration Story
- Other significant Paleo-Structures appear
probably exist in the northern portion of the
Block - Probably responsible for the oil charge of
Chambira Este - If present oil would be available to charge
Cuinico Norte and other yet to be defined
prospects. - These undefined prospects are located between the
area defined by the Cuinico Norte, Nucuray and
Santa Martha Wells, where there is very limited
seismic coverage and a broadening of structural
contours that may indicate the presence of
additional structural culminations
Pozo to Base Cretaceous Isochron CI 5msec

20Marañon E-04 Block Summary
- Block E 6980 Km2 is located on the Marañon Basin
hingeline along which most of the oil production
in the Basin has been found, - dissects the block into two provinces
- the shallower eastern platform and
- the beginning of the western deep Basin
(foredeep) - Has developed infrastructure (oil pipeline)
- Several of the existing wells and/or seismic MAY
be incorrectly placed meaning the existing dry
holes may have not been valid tests, i.e.
Cuininco North 1X and Cuininco Sur 1X OR
improperly located because of logistical reasons - Numerous paleostructures existed in the early
Tertiary that may have reservoired sizeable oil
accumulations - This oil was available for remigration into late
Tertiary aged structures during the Quechua
tectonic events. i.e. Chambira Este and Majas - Inadequate seismic coverage in certain portions
of the block may not have defined all the
existing structures
