• orange and yellow in color
• found on the rocky sea floor
• when it digests its food it spits out its
  stomach and then sucks it back in

Anatomy

• they have five long thin spiny legs or arms
• they have a flat disk for a part of their body
• if a brittle stars arm or leg falls off it will
  grow back
• the arms or legs do not touch each other
• forked arms are called basket stars
• many of the arms are forked

Diet

• brittle stars eat little animals and bugs off
  the ground of the sea
• brittle stars are mainly detrivores (
  detritus-eaters ) they eat decaying matter and
  plankton

• Kingdom Animalia ( animals ) ,Phylum
  Echinodermata (echinoderms ) , Class Ophiuroidea
  ( brittle stars and basket stars)
