Cherry Valley was established in 1959 with its
head office in Rothwell, England. It is the
market leader in the breeding and processing of
high grade duckling for the UK, European, Asian
and Far East markets. The brand name is
synonymous throughout the world with quality and
efficiency at all stages of the production
process. Recognition of these performance
benefits by producers and consumers has made
Cherry Valley the worlds premier duck breed.
The Company has two major business areas The
Cherry Valley integration, which supplies quality
frozen and cooked ducklings to the UK, European,
and China markets, and Cherry Valley Livestock,
which services the duck industries of the world
with breeding stock technology. These two
businesses are complementary, and provide the
Company with expertise across the whole spectrum
of the duck production. Cherry Valley employs
about 600 people in its UK operations. It also
has several fully owned subsidiary and joint
venture breeding and food processing operations
in China.

5A Brief History of Cherry Valley
- In 1960 the first ducks were marketed under the
Cherry Valley brand. - In 1975 Cherry Valley started to supply breeding
stock technology to other duck producers in
different parts of the world. - In 1981 the first breeding stock was supplied to
China. - In 1984 Cherry Valley received its first Queens
award for Export achievement. - In 1985 Super Meat (SM) breeding stock was
launched worldwide. Cherry Valley confirmed its
leading position as the worlds primary duck
breeder. - In 1992 First Joint Venture Breeding Company was
established in Sichuan, China. - In 1994, Cherry Valley won its second Queens
Award for export. - In 2003, Cherry Valley started a fully owned
subsidiary embracing RD, breeding and production
near Beijing. - In 2004, Cherry Valley invested in significant
improvements to its genetic selection programme.
It continually reviews its genetic activities to
ensure it stays at the forefront of duck breeding - In 2004, first joint venture Cherry Valley Food
Operation established in China, producing up to
60,000 ton duck products annually.
