  • Practical sessions to use computer codes were
    organized
  • Specific evaluations were presented
  • a visit to the Bureau International des Poids et
Measures (BIPM) was organized, where Prof.

Importance of the Monographie publication
  • Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM)
  • The Convention of the Metre (Convention du Mètre)
is a treaty which gives authority to the General
Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM), the
International Committee for Weights and Measures
(CIPM) and the International Bureau of Weights
and Measures (BIPM) to act in matters of world
metrology, particularly concerning the demand for
    measurement standards of ever increasing
accuracy, range and diversity, and the need to
    demonstrate equivalence between national
    measurement standards.
  • The principal activities of the BIPM in the field
of ionizing radiation are to maintain the
    international reference standards for dosimetry
and activity measurements. These standards are
used in the BIPM key comparisons and their
development and improvement is a major part of
    the research and development programme.

6
BIPM Monographies
  • A series of monographs is published by the BIPM
on behalf of the Consultative Committee for
Ionizing Radiation (CCRI). The aim of this series
of publications is to review various topics that
are of importance for the measurement of ionizing
radiation and radioactivity, in particular, those
techniques normally used by participants in
international comparisons. It is hoped that these
publications will prove to be useful reference
volumes both for those who are already engaged in
this field and for those who are approaching such
    measurements for the first time.
  • The purpose of this monograph, number 5 in the
series, is to present the recommended values of
nuclear and decay data for a wide range of
    radionuclides.

7
DDEP Rules for evaluation
  • Main stages
  • critical analysis of published results
  • Results without uncertainties are not used
  • One result per laboratory included
  • Rejection of some values is always discussed
  • Private communications are, a priori, not
accepted, except in the exceptional case where
there is no published value available
  • Some uncertainties affecting individual results
can be revisited in the light of the Guide to
the expression of uncertainty measurement (BIPM
    GUM)
  • Statistical process

Information
  • The next ICRM conference will be held in
    Bratislava
  • Dates will be end of May, beginning of June
  • See http//www.smu.gov.sk/eng/main.html
  • Conference topics
  • Nuclear decay data
  • Gamma spectrometry
  • Alpha and beta spectrometry
  • etc.
  • In all your publications dont forget
  • to provide the reader/evaluator with a full
"Uncertainty Budget" in tabulated form, as
recommended by the ICRM scientific committee

  • Many thanks to the IFIN Team for hosting this
    second DDEP working session
