A Perfect Vacation in Grand Cayman

GRAND CAYMAN ITINERARY MONDAY e Our chauffeur met
us at the airport and whisked us out to our
private car, where we settled in to enjoy our
first glimpse of the island. Upon arriving at the
gated Exclusive Resorts enclave, we were
greeted by the friendly staff and shown to our
residence by our Onsite Concierge. Once we had
unpacked, we raided the fully stocked fridge for
snacks and some tropical fruit juice and then
headed out back for a dip in our private pool and
an afternoon spent lounging on our private
terrace.

TUESDAY e We awoke anxious to get to the beach,
so we loaded up our golf cart with the necessary
iPods, iPads, Kindles, and sunblock. We stopped
for a gourmet breakfast at 7, one of the resorts
many restaurants, and then made our way to the
luxurious private beach cabana that our Onsite
Concierge had reserved for us. Of course, instead
of settling in for a lazy morning sunbathing and
reading, we donned the provided snorkeling
equipment and immediately set out to explore the
reef just off-shore. It was worth it thoughour
son couldnt believe how colorful the fish were,
and our daughter was particularly excited to find
a playful sea turtle.
WEDNESDAY e Even after hours at the beach the day
before, we hadnt gotten enough of the turquoise
water and colorful sea life, so our Onsite
Concierge recommended a visit to Stingray City.
Hand-feeding stingrays in the wild, snorkeling
over a reef on the islands bay side, and
enjoying a leisurely catamaran sail provided
quite enough excitement for one day, so we spent
the rest of the day unwinding back at our
residence with cocktails by the pool and a
decadent dinner prepared by a private chef. The
chef even made non-alcoholic smoothies for the
kids, so they could enjoy cocktails too!
FRIDAY e We left the kids with a nanny for the
morning and snuck out for a quick 9 holes on the
resorts Greg Norman- designed Blue Tip golf
course. We could see our residence from a couple
of the greens, and from the cannonball
competition going on in the pool, we knew the
kids were having as much fun as we were. That
afternoon, we decided to head up the coast to
visit the Cayman Turtle Farm. This was quite
possibly the kids favorite part of the whole
vacation they got to hold yearling turtles,
chase tropical butterflies along a nature trail,
snorkel in a protected lagoon, and even watch the
staff hand-feed nurse sharks. Although none of
us wanted to leave the farm, we eventually made
our way back to The Ritz-Carlton just time for a
delicious dinner at Periwinkle and the resorts
outdoor family movie night.
THURSDAY e We decided we wanted to spend a while
enjoying the luxurious privacy of our residence,
so we prepared a delicious breakfast together and
played in our private pool during the morning. We
took a break from the mid- day Caribbean sun,
cuddling up with some popcorn and a family movie
before dropping off the kids at the Jean-Michel
Cousteaus Ambassadors of the Environment
childrens program. And while the kids enjoyed a
well-supervised trip to the Queen Elizabeth II
Botanic Park to see rare blue iguanas, we were
free to indulge in an afternoon at the resorts
award- winning Silver Rain, a La Prairie Spa.
