Your Two Biggest Problems

  the two most common are rats and mice. Rats are
  the bigger of the two. They have huge teeth and
  can gnaw through wiring and anything else that
  gets in their way. Mice are fairly small, but
  they can create problems in your home too.

Are They Here Yet?

  should be fairly obvious. If you notice rodent
  droppings outside your home or in it, you
  definitely have an issue. Likewise, if you see
  rub marks on the walls or gnawing marks on your
  siding, the chances are good that you have a
  rodent problem brewing.

Preventing a Problem

• You may never be able to completely prevent mice
  and rats from entering your home, but you can be
  proactive about it. First, do a quick evaluation
  outside your home. If you have any holes outside
  your home, be sure to stop them up with steel
  wool, as they cant gnaw through that. Also, make
  sure your gutters stay clear and your yard waste
  is cleaned up.

Cleaning Up

• If you find dead rodents in your home, youll
  want to be careful with what you do next. Make
  certain you put on gloves before you do anything
  else. Place it in plastic bag, then put it in a
  trash container with a lid. Once you remove the
  gloves, be sure you wash your hands so you dont
  transmit disease.

After the Rodents

• Even after youve managed to kill the rodents,
  youll likely have a lot of clean up to do. Keep
  in mind that youll need to do some disinfecting.
  Make certain you use the right solution, and if
  possible, air the areas out.
