  • As a United States Air Force fighter pilot,
    Anthony AB Bourke learned that the key for
    individuals and teams to perform at their peak is
    a system of constant and honest feedback. AB
    refers to this system as the Feedback Loop.
  • Before Each Mission - Fighter pilots always
    take time just before execution to hold a
    Briefing. Briefing is where the preparation
    stops and the execution starts. Briefing insures
    that when we start engines and get airborne, we
    are aligned, we are flying in formation and we
    are executing at the highest possible level.
  • After Each Mission - Fighter pilots practice a
    systematic ritual called Debrief. Debrief is
    an approach for providing real time feedback in
    an expected format on a regular basis, without
    fear of reputational risk. Debrief is about
    learning and getting better every single day.
  • Teams of all sorts, particularly those in
    competitive business situations, can greatly
    benefit from this system of Briefing and
    Debriefing to drive continuous improvement
    throughout their decision-making cycle.
