Daren VanderLey His Success Path From 2006 Till
Now

2
In The Year
2006 Daren VanderLey is a third generation racer
who has grown up in the racing world. At the age
of six, he moved into a Junior Champ kart and at
the age of seven, he won his first championship
at JJ Speedway, a dirt track in South Alabama.
In 2001, he won the championship again after the
track was paved and became Sunny South Raceway.
In October 2006, VanderLey and his team entered
their first Pro Late Model race at San Antonio
Speedway ASA event, and got sixth qualifying
position. Two weeks later, Daren went to
Nashville Fairgrounds for ASA All- American 400,
but didn't make the show. After that, the team
moved on to Snowflake 100 at Five Flags Speedway
in Pensacola, Florida.

In The Year 2007 In 2007,
Daren DJ VanderLey and his dad started with a
major rebuild project. They completely
disassembled a car and rebuilt it as the Cell
Phones for Soldiers Pro Late Model Ford 2.
Daren's first race was at his home track of
Mobile International Speedway, and it was also
his first victory. Two weeks later, he put that
Ford on the pole at Mobile International Speedway
and broke the track record for Pro Late Models.
The year reached another high point at the
Snowflake 100 and DJ made his 2 Ford the 1 Pro
Late Model of the race by taking the pole
position from 63 other qualifiers.

In The Year 2008 In
2008, DJ VanderLey and the team took part in
100-lap events. They had to go through many ups
and downs in this season. The car got destroyed
twice at Five Flags Speedway due to unavoidable
wrecks, but both times was quickly rebuilt. The
team also competed in six races in a Super Truck
at Lanier Speedway and Peachstate Speedway North
of Atlanta during the summer and came home with
two poles and one victory. In high spirits, the
team headed out for the 40th annual Snowball
Derby in Pensacola, FL. DJ put no. 2 in the sixth
starting position and was running a very solid
race until around lap 80 when a pile up on a
restart ended with DJ hard in the wall.
