Requirements for Cosmetology Instructor Jobs

  require their job applicants to have several
  years of real-world experience working in a salon
  setting in order to apply. Many schools also
  require applicants to have their cosmetology
  instructor certification through the state so
  they can legally teach at the school. So if you
  are considering becoming a cosmetology teacher,
  first seek out the required training to prepare
  yourself to lead classes of beauty industry
  hopefuls.

Types of CosmetologySchool Instructors

• Are you licensed in another discipline of the
  beauty business besides comprehensive
  cosmetology? Your skills and experience are
  needed too! If you are licensed as a barber,
  esthetician, nail technician or other specialty
  area, you may too still be eligible to teach your
  specialty to students. Each state is different,
  so be sure to check your cosmetology instructor
  certification requirements to see if a full
  cosmetology license is required, or a niche
  beauty specialty license is ok too. If your state
  doesn't allow you to teach cosmetology school
  with a specialty license, that doesn't rule out
  guest speaking at cosmetology schools from a
  real-world perspective!
