• Hi Vis clothing was started in the United Kingdom
  in 1964, in the Scottish Region of the British
  Railways. High Visibility Clothing is a kind of
  personal protection equipment that is used by
  people so that they are easily identifiable from
  a distance. All kinds of works that are done on
  the streets or main roads have people clad in
  fluorescent orange, green or yellow colours with
  highly retro-reflective white strips.

Classes of Hi Vis Wear

• Class I
• These are usually trousers and have the lowest
  level of visibility and are usually worn by
  motorcyclists or cyclists. They have 5 cm bands
  on both legs. These garments become class III
  when combined with another garment.  
• Class II
• These clothes have an intermediary level of
  visibility. These are vests with either one 5 cm
  band around the body or two 5 cm bands on the
  shoulder area.

• Class III
• These clothes have the highest level of
  visibility. These clothes have a 5 cm refelective
  bands around the body as well as shoulders and
  are full sleeved jackets. They are supposed to be
  worn by people who are working on the highway or
  anywhere where the traffic is more than 50kmph.
