1
Secret Lives of Housecats Explored
Igor Purlontov is an animal right advocate who
have deep concerns and care about animals of the
entire world. He puts a lot of effort in proving
the value of animals in our life. Since a long
time he is doing a close and detailed study of
behaviour of cats. From his valuable knowledge
about animals he presents some insights about the
behaviour of cats and their personal lives. With
his great knowledge he also raises awareness
about the rights of animals amongst us.

  • Mr Igor Purlontov did a study unique in itself.
He attached a camera in the collars of the cat
and studied their routine for ten days. It is a
comprehensive study, one of its kinds, for detail
study of routine of the cats. These cats went
outside the house for around four to six hours a
day. Studies revealed many secrets of the cats
    lives.
  • According to Mr Igor Purlontov only 30 of cats
actually kill their prey and that too at the rate
of two animals per week. Igor Purlontov further
elaborates that, 25 of the cats bring their prey
home, 30 of the cats eat the prey they catch and
    49 leaves it behind.
  • Studies further revealed that snakes, lizards and
frogs made 41 of the prey catch by the
housecats. Chipmunks and voles acquire 25 and
insects and worms shares 20. It was quite
surprising that only twelve percent birds are
catch by housecats as their prey.

  • The studies show that housecats involves
themselves in risky behaviour. It may not
surprise that male cats are more risk taking then
the female cats. Apart from that older cats are
more disciplined and non risk taking then young
cats. Statistics shows that around twenty five
percent of cats cross busy traffic roads. Forty
five percent of the cats eat random and unknown
stuff found on the roads and street side. Around
twenty percent of cats enter road side gutters
and tunnels where they can be trapped. But
researches put light on the fearless attitude of
the housecats which provokes them to take risks.
