• On the rotten tomatoes website, the film
  currently holds a 92 positive rating, the
  reviewers are composed out of both movie critics
  and normal people, most people praised the
  direction an the material, they thought it was
  refreshing. Most were actually pleasantly
  surprised, as many people were initially
  sceptical, considering the quality of recent
  marvel movies, fortunately most felt that James
  Gunn did the series justice., they praised the
  chemistry between the actors, especially the
  performance of Bradley cooper.

The reviewers expectations

• The reviewers expectations were affect by a
  number of different factors, such as the
  director, Genre, narrative and the actors,
  Originally many people were concerned with the
  addition of Dave Bautista, as he is primarily a
  tv wrestler, not a professional actor, however it
  was found that he fit the character perfectly,
  the cold and emotionless Drax. People were quite
  sceptical when they heard James Gunn was
  directing, as most of the films he has direct
  have been quite different to guardians, also they
  were not met with the best of reception, the only
  significant film he directed was the movie
  Slither. Another factor that made the audience
  sceptical was the fact that the genre is a
  science fiction film, this genre caters to a
  specific niche audience, not a wide group of
  people, as it relies on special effects, quirky
  characters and confusing plot events. In the end
  it was found that many people thoroughly enjoyed
  the movie.

My Review

• Across the hall is a thrilling short with an
  interesting narrative , the films use of mise en
  scene successfully creates a seedy atmosphere
  that the movie needs to be interesting, the
  chemistry between the two main characters is also
  quite good, unfortunately no other character has
  any form of chemistry with another, June is a one
  dimensional character put in the story for no
  other reason to be hated, she reacts in such a
  way during the situation that it breaks my
  immersion. Terry and Julian are quite
  interesting, but not enough to support the film,
  the only thing, in my opinion that could save it
  would be the twist, however it is ruined by the
  actual ending of the film, the ending was
  incredibly obvious, as soon as Julians car is
  revealed .

• I decided to pick rotten tomatoes, because my
  review would be an opinion in a sea of opinions,
  which would be aggregated into a general
  consensus of positive or negative thought. Its
  also the most easily accessed reviewer, as most
  people who would go to the movies have access to
  the internet, meaning you could easily search the
  web for the review. Also if the person searching
  for the reviews feel inclined, they can go
  through each individual review and make their own
  opinion.

Offline review vs Online review

• I believe that online reviews are much more
  important than reviews on Newspapers and TV, as
  online youre able to see what other peoples
  opinions are, in regards to TV it would most
  likely be a professional reviews giving their
  opinion, I believe that a general consensus among
  normal people are more valuable than a single
  opinion of a professional, again this is just my
  opinion. On one occasion I allowed a
  professional opinion to twist my review on a
  movie, namely the Godzilla movie, it was
  criticised harshly for its pacing, however when
  I watched it, I thoroughly enjoyed it, the film
  literally had me cheering in the cinema, I then
  went online and found different reviews, with
  varying different opinions.
