Classification of Braces Braces can be broadly
classified under 1) Metal wired braces are the
most common types of braces that are used by the
dentist. Metal braces contain a metal bracket
which consists of elastic band which are attached
to the metal brackets. 2) Ceramic braces are
those where in the brackets are made out of
ceramic material and most of the patients opt for
clear braces as it is not visible as the material
is not noticeable. These braces may cause more
friction and are considered to be more brittle
when compared to metal braces. 3) Gold plated
braces are most often preferred by the patients
who are allergic to nickel and want to have a
golden looking teeth on their face as compared to
silver made braces. 4) Lingual braces are those
which are generally fixed on the rear portion of
the teeth such that they are not visible to
others. Patients who are more conscious about
their look normally go for this braces. 5)
Titanium braces are those which are more durable
and last for long time. These braces are light in
weight and also at the same time are strong
enough to withstand pressure. When compared to
steel braces, titanium braces are far more
expensive
