Convention Notes
The main feature of the magazine cover is the
exclusive interview with Alex Turner and Miles
Kane. I know this as the feature article photo is
a large dominating image of the two if them. The
Headline is their current band name to attract
the attention of people who like their music. The
anchorage of the cover is a quote from the
interview. Typically this quote will be the most
exaggerated or put out of context to sound more
dramatic. The quote here is I was worried the
monkeys would think id had an affair an affair
is typically looked down on by society so would
be more interesting to read, hence why it is put
on the front cover. The Headline, main image and
anchorage is all in the centre of the magazine
with the other secondary and less important
articles on the outside. This is to make the
interview with Turner and Kane stand out
completely on the cover. The house style of an
NME magazine would be red writing, this is again
used on this magazine cover. NME stands for New
Musical Express, this was the former name of the
magazine and was changed to NME as it used to be
extremely critical hence why NME doubles up as
the word enemy. The magazine cover reinforces
the typical conventions of a magazine cover it
sticks to the typical and trademark slick and
stylish theme. The colour scheme is extremely
conventional as the four colours used are red
black white and yellow these are the textbook
colours used in a music magazine.
