Lasik Surgery
Lasik stands for "laser in situ keratomileusis".
It is a refractive surgery used to correct the
most common problems of vision namely Myopia,
Hyperopia and astigmatism. These problems occurs
due to the abnormal size and shape of the cornea
of eye.

Laser eye surgery includes the utilization of a
cool laser shaft (excimer laser) to reshape the
cornea along these lines adjusting refractive

"long-sight" or hyperopia, "short-sight" or

astigmatism.

Lasik Procedure
1. Local anaesthetic eye drops are applied to
both eyes.
2. The femtosecond laser is used to create a thin
flap by sending microscopic laser pulses onto the
cornea.
3. The flap is moved aside by the consultant
giving access to the cornea.
4. Your consultant then applies the excimer laser
to the eye, reshaping the corneal surface to
correct the refractive error.
5. The flap is then gently replaced and aligned
back to its original position, where it heals
naturally without stitches.
