Glen Luchford is a British photographer. He was
born in Sussex, England, in 1968. At the age of
19 he was working for The Face. In 1997 he signed
an exclusive two year contract with Prada. Four
years later he broke into film were he directed
Here To Where. In 2009 he signed his first
book deal called British Influence.
Glen Luchford specialises in these type
photography fashion, film, advertising
The category for this photograph is fashion
photography I choose the photograph because I
like the model has been caught in the position
and the other people are dress the same, he
stands out. The street is clean and probably
middle class, very conservative, Hassidic Jews
this is juxtapose to the dancer who is more
contemporary. The lines of the models arm and leg
emphasize the view down the street also the
converging lines of the buildings create the
effect of the length of this street. The purpose
of this photograph would come down both
commercial and artistic, it would be use
advertise product. You would find this photograph
in a magazine. This photograph of the model was
taken in the studio and placed into this picture,
there is also parallel lines with the cars and
the house. The lighting in this photograph
doesnt look natural, looks like its been used in
the studio. The model is the central focus of
this photograph. The central figure is positioned
unusual which contrasts with the formal settings
of the Hasidic Jaws and the clean environment.

LaChapelle specialises in art, portraits and
commercial i.e. advertising, wedding, landscapes,
travel etc
This category for this photograph is wedding
photography The purpose of the photography is
commercial.this photograph could be seen in an
album or in a magazine or website, which the
photographer would you to advertise his work. I
like how the photographer has used the trees as
parallel lines to frame the newly weds, also has
used the direct approach. When looking at the
photograph your eyes get lead down the footpath
when I see this I think it makes you look to the
future. I like how the photographer has editing
the edges by making it fade into black, gives it
a feeling of a memories. I think it gives the
feeling of a memory as if you think back
everything isn't clear. This photograph main
subject is the wedding kiss, also there are
around nature which is juxtapose, man and nature
being on.

  • Tim Clayton
  • Tim Clayton was born in Leeds, England in 1960.
He worked for the Yorkshire Post from 1976 to
1990, when he emigrated to Australia and started
working for the Sydney Morning Herald, where he
became a full time sports photographer. Whilst
there he photographed Olympic Games, Football
Rugby World Cups. He left the Herald and became
    freelance in 2008.
  • Tim specialises in sport photography.

The category for this photograph is sports
photography. This shot could be seen as
journalistic as the image could be seen in sports
magazines or even documentaries about people with
strength and determination who have had set backs
in their life and never give up no matter what is
put in front of them. The purpose for this
photograph come in two parts, firstly to that a
person in a wheelchair can continue in a sport
they love even after such set backs and secondly
to inspire other people from all walks of life to
do something similar. The photograph goes under
the subjects name of Wheelchair Rock Climber
Nick Morozoff The photograph was taken on a rock
face in Sydney Australia. After a horrific car
accident which left him paraplegic he decided to
continue his passion for rock climbing so he
designed his own light weight wheelchair . The
picture contrast between black and white makes
the scene look more dangerous and unusual for the
rock climber to conquer. The rock takes the
shape of a sharks tooth making it look very
menacing as if the climber has entered the mouth
of some kind of beast. It also gives viewer more
respect for the climber as he is showing courage
by overcoming adversary. The is a strong
contrast of light and dark this give the effect
of the objection heavier, also the way the
photograph has been taken with the rock pointing
downward makes it look disorientating to look at
due to that we are use to seeing landscape at the
bottom of shots

  • Riccardo Venturi
  • Riccardo Venturi was born in Rome in 1966. He
studied photography at the Istituto Superiore di
Fotografia in Rome. He took up photojounalism in
the late 1980s where he went on to photograph
local, national and other European events. This
led on to world wide conflict zones such as
    Afganistan, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Burundi,
Somalia, Liberia and Rwanda. He has alsocovered
tsunamis and earthquakes. He has worked in
co-operation with the World Health Organisation
    before joining Contrasto in 2001.
  • Riccardo specialises in Photojournalism.

The category for this photograph is
photojournalism The purpose of this photograph
was to record the disaster that befell the
Caribbean island of Haiti This is a
journalistic photograph showing the aftermath of
the earthquake which hit Haiti, Port au Prince in
January 2010 . Even though the photograph does
not have a name it shows a child watching the old
colonial market building been set on fire by the
looters. On 12th January 2010, there was a
horrific earthquake in Haiti which cost the
lives of 220,000 people. I think child face in
this photograph gives off the feeling of sadness
and loss set against the burning building, yet
the child still wears the crucifix which is a
sign of faith. You would find this picture in
news papers, magazines and news reports. The way
the boy has been positioned to the right of the
photograph gives the photograph balance as the
building is heavier which is in the background of
the shot. The angle the of the shot of the
building emphasizes the sense of chaos but there
doesnt seem to be any emotion on the boys face
give making you think its an everyday thing.

David Bailey
David Royston Bailey, was born in Leytonstone,
East London on 2 January 1938. In 1959, Bailey
became an assistant for a photographic at the
John French studio. May 1960, he was a
photographer for John Coles Studio Five. Later
that year he got a contracted as a fashion
photographer for British Vogue magazine. David
Bailey specialises in wildlife photography.
The category of this shot is wildlife I have
chosen this photograph because as soon as I see
he camera I though of juxtapose. With the camera
place on the tree stump its like
technology/modern going back to nature. The
purpose of this photograph is to show the British
wildlife and this photography could found in
nature/wildlife magazines. The photographer has
used selective focus to capture the squirrel
heading towards the camera. He also took this
shot from a low angle using the direct approach
to make the squirrel and the camera in the
central focus of the photograph. I like how the
photograph has been taken showing the squirrel
being inquisitive about the camera, this
photograph makes me want to know what happened
next .

Don McCullin
Don McCullin was born in 1935 in Finsbury Park in
London . His first published photo of The
Guvners, a local Finsbury Park gang, one of
whose number had committed a murder, which
appeared in The Observer in 1959. He worked for
The Observer for several years, they asked him to
cover the Cyprus War in 1964. Between 1966 and
1984, he worked for The Sunday Times Magazine.
The category for this picture is war
photography. Due to the nature of the photograph
it would be considered to be journalistic. This
Photograph is called The Javelin Thrower, it was
taken at the height of Battle for Hue, during the
Vietnam war in 1968. The purpose of the
photograph is to record historical events which
may or may not change the world. The American
soldier is throwing a grenade at a Viet Cong
position, the picture has been caught in mid
action due to the grenade toss. The soldier
standing in the ruins of a building to be in a
better position to throw his grenade. The picture
is taken in black and white which makes it look
more dramatic. The photograph is shot in the
documentary style so it records this soldiers own
piece of history during his part of the battle of
Hue. The soldier is also the central focus of
the photograph as the photographer wanted to get
his actions on film. This photograph follows the
rules of thirds by showing the blocking shot at
the bottom the soldier in the middle and the sky
above, and also the way the photographer angled
his should in-between the wood which represent
lines. These lines draw your eyes to the middle
of the photograph. You could imaging other
soldiers crouching behind the rubble at the
bottom of the shot.
