Advanced Fluorescence Technology

• Intense pulsed light (IPL) has been available to
  plastic surgeons since 1990. The latest, and most
  effective advancement in IPL lasers is
  calledAdvanced Fluorescence Technology
  (AFT)-designed to even out skin tone,
  particularly reds and browns. AFT lasers work by
  using both short and longlight wavelengths to
  rejuvenate the skin. According to the American
  Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery report
  released in 2010, 562,706 Laser skin-resurfacing
  procedures were performed in North America.

  medical history to determine if they are a good
  candidate. Next, an explanation of any potential

AFT Treatment Work

• Dr. Torgerson performs his AFT laser treatment
  by first applying a topical anaesthetic to the
  treatment area. he uses the Alma Harmony. Most
  people require several treatments, but the first
  AFT laser treatment is the most intense one.

• He recommends that the second phase of the AFT
  laser treatment be performed after 4 weeks. After
  the treatment, you might experience some redness
  or pinkness this is temporary. Also, some people
  experience mild swelling for the first week, but
  that will soon pass. For the best results, he
  suggests to his patients to avoid the sun for the
  first 24 hours. When going out in the sun, he
  advices to apply a minimum of SPF 30 sun block
  after the laser treatment.

• What side effects are associated With the AFT
  laser treatment?
• The most common side effect that Dr. Torgerson
  sees at his Toronto Clinic is redness during the
  first couple of days. As well, for afew days
  after AFT, the treated area may appear darker.
  This skin reaction is a common one but quickly
  improves, yielding a brighter, more rejuvenated
  skin in its place.
