Title: P3 M2 D1
1I have chosen this photograph to be in my final
set to edited. The reason I picked this shot was
because its been positioned affectively with both
models to the right side of the picture. I had
the idea of the model in the background being a
entity/ demon about to possess/kill to model in
the foreground. When taking this shot I was a few
steps below the models. I did that to get a
slight low angle shot to get the model in the
background to look more menacing, this also
helped with him having the hood over his
head/covering face. This photograph shows balance
by having two separate diagonal lines separating
positive space with the models from negative
space of the sky. Also the diagonal line is
showing moment and change this work with the
model in the background, his hand also have been
capture in the golden section of rules of
thirds.
2I like the way I have captured the model faded as
he was moving trying to made him look as a
ghost/spirit. I did this by changing the shutter
speed on the camera. I chose to take the
photograph from behind the old chapel to limit
the natural light and make it look more gloomy
due to the location of the shot. The path in this
photograph are acting like a converging line
drawing your eye in which gives the picture
depth. This was a mid depth of field fading out
the background I also took the shot to capture
the model on the left side of the photograph to
give it the affect that he might be entering the
chapel.
3I have chosen the photograph to be in my final 5.
I picked the old chapel to be one of my edited
piece for the next task. I like the chapel
because it is old and decrepit with the
vegetation growing around the structure this
shows a good example of juxtapose. I took this
photograph from low angled shot which made the
chapel steeple look like a tower also I chose to
do a wide depth of field to capture the full
chapel/steeple in focus. The way the shot has
been taken draws your eye up the chapel steeple
until both lines intercept at the top of the
spire. This photograph shows a multitude of
different colours from the sandstone colour of
the walls to the cold dark colour of the slate
roof which contrasts with the brown and green of
the vegetation.
4This photograph was in taken from inside the
chapel looking outwards into the graveyard. When
taking this photograph I used the chapels archway
to frame it also with the lines off the sandstone
helps frame and direct your eye into the focus of
the picture. I also like how the vegetation is
hanging over the archway its look like its
reaching out trying to get someone or something.
With the graves and the bushes making a line
which is getting narrower pull your eyes to the
middle of the photograph. I taking this picture I
used wide depth of field to capture it all in
focus. In the picture I like how the natural
light is shining off the trees and different
parts of the ground, I think when using this
picture for one of my final pieces for editing
the light will help have a good affect when
darkening the picture.
5I like this photograph but I dont think it fits
the horror themed book.In this picture I used
shallow depth of field to blur out the background
also with the window frame to frame my the full
photography also when look at the picture it seem
to have three different layers the wall is one of
the layer then the window sill and then the
outside. Also like the shape of the cylinders
which are the main focus within this picture.
This shot also captures the buildings gothic
architecture with the decaying sandstone in the
background. You can see the different textures
in the stones such as the roughness from the
cylinders and the windows contrasted to the
varnished windowsill.
6I took this picture of Gisborough Hall as it
looks like a haunted house from popular
horror/ghost movie. It is a wide depth of field
shot as well as a low angled shot with a slight
tilt to the right hand side to capture more of
the foreground this was so I could get more
shadow into the picture to get a scarier effect
on the picture. Because I took this at a low
angle I got more of the sky and if I wanted to
chose this for my final piece I could change the
colour of the sky to make it more apt for a
horror themed book cover. The red ivy stands out
against the sandstone walls and windows and the
light blue sky where it looks very blood like. I
could also photo shop a lady in black in one of
the upstairs windows to add to the effect of the
haunted house.
7This is a photograph is one of the chapels
windows on the steeple. This is a low angled
shot as well as a wide depth of field. The
picture shows the many textures which include the
the roughness of the sandstone where it is
crumbling away as well as the vegetation which
seems to be suffocating the building with it
coarse branches and the smoothness of
window/symbol. I also like the different colours
on the masonry where the black, sand, green and
brown all merge with the vegetations green and
brown. There is also a diagonal line which
separates the sandstone from the vegetation.
8This photograph was taken from a footpath in
Gisborough. I took this shot from the top of
steps shooting from over the shoulder, this is a
high angle shot. With the steps acting like a
diagonal line it which shows movement. With the
trees on both sides of the shot and the braches
going across the top of the shot is framing the
photograph. I used a mid depth of field with the
models being the central focus of the photograph.
With the model in the foreground being bigger
making him look more dominant then the victim /
model in the background.
9I took this photograph in the studio. Its a high
angle shot focusing on the skull which is in the
models hand. I used lighting to create a satanic
look with the model holding up the ram skull as
some kind of offering. This is more effective as
the full room was dark. There is a strong
contrast between the skull and the darkest of the
room. With the model wearing dark clothing he
blended in with the background. The latex mask
does a good job of covering the features of the
model and making them look supernatural. By using
the negative space it makes the model stand out
more and also frames the photograph
10This shot was taken in the studio/darkroom.I
like the pose the model was in when this shot was
taken. I used side lighting to get the lighting
effect and capture the model half in light and
other half in shadow. I also like how the model
is turning towards the camera with his hands out
ready for action.I took this shot to show that I
could use the equipment within the dark room. I
may even take the model out of this shot and
place him within another to make the new shot
look more sinister and ramp up the terror making
the shot more fit for purpose. This is in between
a wide depth of field and a mid shot. This way
it catches most of the models body.
11This is a picture from inside Gisborough Priorys
vaulted under croft. The picture is a wide field
of depth. I had the model walking away from the
camera, from the darkness of the under croft
going towards the light of the entrance that
makes the model look like some kind of dark
figure which could be either ghostly, occult
horror or mysterious. I like the way the
photograph has captured the vaulted ceiling and
the strange lens flare which was caused by the
slow shutter speed that adds the eeriness of the
picture. I like the way the walls and the
ceiling have framed this picture, also how the
model is the main focus for your eye, this is
helped by the passageway which the model is
walking through. You can also see the texture
from the walls and ceiling as well as the mud and
rubble strewed floor.
12This is another picture from inside Gisborough
Priorys vaulted under croft. This time the
picture was taken from inside. From this end it
captures the Priory in the background as well the
hedgerows to the right. This picture is a wide
depth of field as it has capture the priory in
focus which is in the background. I like the way
the ceiling has framed the photograph and also
the way that the model stays in the dark not
venturing out into the light. You can see a wide
variety of shape in the photograph from the arch
way of the under croft to the multiple arches on
what is left of the East wing of the Priory. The
picture also shows the many colours of the trees
in the foreground and background with the trees
in the background wearing their autumn colours,
whilst the trees in the fore ground have kept
their green leaves.
13This is a picture of the walled door way which is
at the back of the Priory. I like this picture
because of the many shapes within it. It has the
main arch of the doorway as well as a nice curve
that has carried on behind the archway that leads
to what looks like a globe on top of a plinth.
With the back of the Priory been enclosed on the
right hand side with the priory wall and the shin
high kerb add to this the hedgerow blocking off
the left side of the photo this helps to lead
your eye to the figure in the archway. I also
like the way that the grass that is in the
background is much lighter to anything in the
foreground which adds contrast to the picture
also making it looking more eerie as it could
suggest that where ever the figure/model goes the
darkness goes with them. In the photograph the
model and the globe like object put balance into.
By changing the exposure meter I made the
photograph darker so it would have more of an
horror effect.
14I took this photograph from a footpath in
Gisborough .This shot is a wide depth of field
and I took the direct approach when taking the
photo. I think this photograph shows balance with
the tree in the background to the right and the
model in the foreground to the left, also it
makes the photo have depth. I like the way I have
capture the hills in the distance its as the
model is lost or waiting for something to happen.
This photograph could be turned into a horror
themed book cover due to the uncertainty feeling
you get off looking at the picture.
