1LETS DO MORE WITH LESS
- A PROPOSAL FOR
- ON-SITE RENOVATION
2The Church that was not Built
3The Church withNo Way to get Inside
4Jesus Knocks on the Door with no Handles to
see if We will Open Up and Let Him In.
5Sometimes Jesus Visits Usin a Distressing
Disguise.St. Teresa of Calcutta
6We can make a way for Jesus to come in right now
7We just need to make a move.
8You can only steer a vehicle when it is moving.
- We can expect God to direct us
- once we begin to move
- not while we wait .

19WHY SHOW A BLANK WALL?
BECAUSE IT IS SOMETHING WE HAVE OVER- LOOKED AND
DO NOT SEE
20COVERED IN BLACK PAINT
- AND BURIED IN JUNK
- WE HAVE A SANCTUARY!
21HIDDEN BY CURTAINS AND FAKE WALLS
22ALL OUR ASSETS CAN BE RELOCATED TO THE HALL
- THE OLD SANCTUARY AND NARTHEX CAN EVENTUALLY BE
REMOVED TO MAKE - SPACE FOR A GRADE-LEVEL ENTRANCE AND PARKING.
23A Single Stair-Lift would make the Hall
accessible.
24PARKING IN FRONTA/C AND HEATING ON THE ROOF
- RECLAIM THE BRICKS AND BLOCK WINDOWS TO MAKE A
NEW FAÇADE. - ADD HANDICAPPED WASHROOMS
25WE NEED TO PROVIDE A SPACE THAT BENEFITS OUR
LOCAL COMMUNITY AS WELL AS THE CHURCH
- WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO KEEP A WORSHIPPING
PRESENCE HERE!
26AN ACCESSIBLE, COMFORTABLE VENUE
- FOR CELEBRATIONS, COMMUNITY EVENTS, AND A
SPIRITUAL HERITAGE
27WE CAN PROVIDE THIS COMMUNITY WITH A PLACE TO
COME TOGETHER
- MEALS AND LUNCHES
- GUIDES AND CRAFT GROUPS
- MEETING ROOMS, ETC.
28IT IS MUCH MORE COST-EFFECTIVE TO RENOVATE THAN
TO BUILD OR MOVE.
- MOVING A CONGREGATION REQUIRES A VERY HIGH DEGREE
OF COMMITMENT AND A GREAT DEAL OF ENERGY. - DO WE HAVE THAT?
29LETS UNCOVER THE TREASURE HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT
- LETS LOOK AT THE POSSIBILITIES.
30LETS USE WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE AND DO WHAT WE
CAN DO RIGHT NOW!
- WE CAN MAKE THE HALL OUR SANCTUARY, NOW,
- WITHOUT TEARING ANYTHING DOWN
31WE CAN MOVE FORWARD STEP BY STEP
- WE CAN MAKE OUR VISION PLAIN FOR ALL TO SEE.
- MAYBE OTHERS WILL JOIN US IF THEY CAN SEE WHERE
WE ARE GOING.
32MARKETING OUR PLANS
- MISSION STATEMENT for our FUTURE
- Continue a worshipping presence in this area.
- Provide a service facility for the community.
- Accessibility needs determined by our future
plans.
33WISE STEWARDSHIP
- Reduce unused space.
- Flexible use of renewed space.
- Sustainable energy management thru insulation,
hi-efficiency heating and cooling, smaller
footprint, new windows. - This plan can be done in stages beginning with
the creation of a Sanctuary in the Hall
34Finances will follow our Vision
- It is hard to invest in an uncertain future.
- If we can focus the hope of the congregation on a
clear picture they will be willing to do what it
takes to realize that vision. - Sale of the Manse begins this process of reducing
the excess capacity.
35Next steps
- We can repair the Hall roof and install a
ceiling. - We can move the pews down to the Hall.
- Promote this vision as being the one most
beneficial to the Church as well as the community.
36Outline a step by step process
- That will take us to our destination without
undue pressure on the congregation. - - Begin with the stair lift. That will make the
Hall a viable worship space. - - Prepare the Hall more fully as a sanctuary by
installing the stained glass, cross and other
moveable assets..
37Put this information into the hands of the
congregation.
- A re-designed website can visually keep the ideas
before our eyes.
