• An asynchronous AC motor utilizes the electric
  current in the rotor to produce torque by
  electromagnetic induction from the magnetic field
  or flux of the stator winding. 
• A gear reducer is the component in the drive
  train that reduces the high rotational speed of
  the motor rotor down to a desired level. 
• Spring applied failsafe electromagnetic brakes
  are often installed on the back of electric
  motors to slow and stop the rotational motion
  using an electromagnetic force to apply
  mechanical resistance or friction between a
  stationary plate a friction disc and thrust
  plate.
•  A variable-frequency drive (VFD) is a type of
  electronic adjustable-speed drive used in
  conjunction with induction geared motors to
  control the motor rotational speed and torque by
  varying motor input frequency and voltage.
