really help. Moreover, it is quite exciting to
know about novel and new cultures and traditions.
So, when you plan a vacation to Egypt, do have
some basic knowledge of the culture and
traditions you would find while you are in Egypt.

Egyptian Culture Has Its Roots In Traditions And
Antiquity
  • Stories of Pharos and their grandeur have been
doing the rounds in Egypt ever since. The list of
pharaohs is a long one. There is even a female
pharaoh among them. Merneith reigned over Egypt
in the thirteenth century BC. Among other notable
pharaohs were Narmer and Kufu. Some of them built
pyramids for themselves. They were full of riches
and treasures the pharaoh was supposed to carry
with himself to the other world. But most
pyramids were plundered and looted. The
Government of Egypt has done its best to preserve
the remnants of Egypt Culture in the form they
    were found in.
  • The Sphinx is another symbol of Egypt Culture. It
is in the shape of a lion and a man. While the
head is that of a human being, the body is that
of a lion. It is supposed to guard the pyramid of
Giza and all the surrounding pyramids. The Sphinx
is a wonder carved out of a single block of
limestone. It is believed to have its origins in
the period between 2558 and 2532 BC. There are
many myths and legends about the sphinx. The
local guide would be sure to tell you all the
    interesting ones.

Language
  • The language of a community is an important
aspect of its culture. You might find the Arabic
language used in Cairo or the rest of Egypt a bit
different from English, but several Egyptians are
well-versed in English too. The Arabic language
has its origin in the Semitic group of languages
of the Indo-European language-family. You might
find interacting with locals who arent
well-versed in English a bit difficult, but most
professional guides in Egypt are quite fluent in
    English.
  • The religion followed by the dominant majority in
Egypt is Islam. There are quite a few Christians
in Egypt too. There are about 80 per cent Muslims
in Egypt, while the rest of the 20 per cent is
made of Coptic Christians. The importance of
Islamic Law in Egyptian life is highlighted by
the fact that Egyptian constitution mandates
Islamic principles for the formation of laws for
the land. Freedom of religion is offered only to
the followers of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

  • Food is as essential part of the culture of a
civilization. The Egyptians usually munch on
legumes and vegetables. The area surrounding the
Nile River provides a rich assortment of
vegetables to the inhabitants. A gourmet on a
vacation in Egypt is sure to find a lot to munch
on. You are sure to find a lot of variety of
snacks and juices while walking down a street.
