Evaluation question 2 - how effective is the
combination of my Ancillary production tasks and
my main production

My production

• Before I begin judging how effective my ancillary
  tasks were, I believe it best to explain what my
  main production was.
• My main production was a surreal short film based
  in the united kingdom. It followed a troubled
  young adult with a dark past, one he will
  regrettably be reminded of. The film is a series
  of flashbacks looking over this poor youths life,
  it shows his failures, his lack of ambition, his
  lack of Morales and finally his lowest moment,
  the moment he threw not one, but two lives away.
• As it was of a surreal nature, my group and I
  thought it would be best if we went with a
  different style of narrative, originally we were
  going to go with a standard linear, episodic
  narrative, however we felt that type of narrative
  did not suite a surreal film, so we changed to a
  non-linear flashback driven narrative, focusing
  on the past of the main character.

Research for my film poster

• As my films genre is that of surrealism, my
  research mainly had me looking of films with
  either surreal tones, or actual surreal. What I
  found was that these posters rely on interesting
  and bizarre imagery to grab the possible viewers
  attention. So I decided that when I would make
  my film poster, the imagery used would be a
  little out of the ordinary. I decided to go with
  imagery revolving around the eye of the main
  character I eventually settled with a
  juxtaposition between the real and the surreal.

Evaluation of my film poster
The starring actors name, this would attract
people who are familiar with that particular
actors work.
Supporting actors name, this can be used both for
the audience and the actor, as it spreads
awareness of the actor.
Mentioning prior films can both attract long time
fans, and can also serve as a taster, they can
watch that film to gain a sense of the quality of
the production team.
The main title serves to grab the attention of
the potential viewer, as the title links into the
content of the film, the audience can gain a
sense of what the film could contain
Reviews allow the audience to gain a general idea
of the quality o the production, this can
influence whether or not they want to see film.
Memorable tagline designed to stay with the
audience long after they have left the movie
theatre.
Age ratings inform the audience of the age
restrictions imposed onto the movie.
The web address allows the audience to do a
certain amount of research on the film before
viewing
Allows the audience to know the prestigious
awards that the film has won, this once again
gives the audience a general idea of the quality
of the film
Gives the audience a more detailed look into the
production group, naming the producers and what
role they played in creating the film.

How effective is the ancillary tasks in relation
to the main product poster

• I believe that together, my ancillary task
  productions do quite a good job at complementing
  my final production. The poster informs the
  audience of all the necessary information, they
  get an idea of the genre due to the imagery used
  in the poster, they are informed of the
  production crew, and their previous work,
  including some of the awards the group has been
  given due to their hard working attitude. It
  also informs the audience age rating, allowing
  them to know who will be able to actual view the
  film.

How effective is the ancillary tasks in relation
to the main product Radio trailer

• The radio trailer, I believe is quite good at
  attracting the audience, as it immediately starts
  with an enigma who is speaking and what are they
  referring to when they say look what youve done
  It is also incredibly interesting, as it
  repeatedly drops hints towards the plot of the
  film. The trailer also mentions the production
  company DJMT productions this once again allows
  the audience to do a little bit of research. The
  trailer also mentions the various reviews of the
  film, from such prestigious bodies like the
  Sundance film festival.

Conclusion

• I believe that my ancillary tasks will help get
  my intended audience to see the film, as it gives
  just the right amount of information, for the
  audience to examine past works, allowing them to
  see the production style of the group. It also
  name drops a large number of very prestigious
  awards, which should help attract a more general
  audience. However I do believe I could make some
  improvements, I believe I could add more surreal
  elements to the trailer and I sol have created a
  more surreal style of imagery to the film poster,
  as I believe the main issue with the ancillary
  tasks are the fact that the genre of the film is
  not that well presented, safe for the basic
  surreal imagery
