movie review

The film I will talk about in my review
  • The film I will be using is the newly released
dawn of the planet of the apes. This is set 10
years after the first film rise of the planet of
the apes, when humanity is virtually extinct due
    to the virus.

Rotten tomatoes
  • This site contains both reviews from top movie
critics from well known magazines and general
audiences viewers around the world. This site has
the film at a 91 scoring, the majority of the
praises this film has been given is due to its
CGI and visuals. While some of the reviews are
negative, with the top critics they give short,
detailed, straight to the point reasons. where as
with members of the general public, vast majority
negative reviews only consist of the movie being
    'just awful
  • The rating in 2015 has dropped by 1.

IMDb
  • This site score the film at a 8.2 stars out of
    10. This site contains review from mostly
audiences of the general public, in great detail
about the plot and its CGI. Some of the people
who have reviewed this film also give negative
ratings, but in much greater detail. Rotten
tomatoes is professional than the other as the
reviews from high critics is on rotten tomatoes.
if posting a review to one of the sites . I have
done some research to find what site people of
the general public prefer. Many say that they
prefer due to IMDb being more accurate than
    rotten tomatoes movie scoring.
  • In 2015 the rating has now dropped to 7.7/10

  • With new technology and social media, it is very
simple now to get across your views on many
topics, such as films, TV, music, news. In my
case I am able to get across my views of a film,
not just in the same area but around the world.
Normal the only source for reviews was newspapers
and magazines, they were mostly of professional
critics. But afterwards reviews are more
accessible due to improvements in technology such
as computers. Now that social media sites have
been created general people of the public are now
able to get their views across to the media and
people reading of that similar interest. This
seems much more reliable source than the critics
as a piece is either heavily criticised or
    heavily praised.

My decision
  • For my review to be put on a social media site
many would be able to see my view of the film I
Have chosen to review. With this they can either
find it helpful or not when deciding on weather
the film is good enough for them to see it for
    themselves.
  • I believe that if I was to choose a site for my
    review,
  • choosing IMDb would be considered the best
option. Due to being a well popular and
    accessible site for people.

My Review Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
  • Human civilisation is now a distant memory ten
years after the ALZ-113 virus outbreak, caused by
the ALZ-113 drug created by its previous films
protagonist. The story is set in san Francisco
and Apes inelegance has now rapidly increasing,
with them now acting more like humans than ever.
With whats left of mankind trying to rebuild
their lives, both groups will soon find their way
crossing paths with each other. The result will
be either making peace or starting a war.
  • With its big budget of 170 million dollars and
stunning use of CGI, this film is not to be
missed because of this. With such detail on the
movement created by the actors of the apes, and
the great detail that is shown on the hundreds of
apes and other similar mammals. You can see the
amount of effort put in to make these creatures
to make them human, still with animal
    characteristics.
  • Andy Serkis ( well known for his roles similar to
Caesar, king kong and Golem in the lord of the
rings trilogy) returns as the ape Caesar, now
leader of the tribe and fierce of his family and
friends, with his friend koba as second in
command and Caesars son blue eyes learning how to
become strong like his father. A small group of
survivors, leaded by Malcolm (Jason Clarke),
while wife and son Ellie (Keri Russell) and
Alexander (Kodi Smit-McPhee) join Malcom on his
journey, stumble into ape territory searching for
one source that is to run out soon unless going
into the apes turf, which is electricity from
    the hydro dam.

Part 2
  • With small group and apes working together, we
begin to believe peace is soon to come however
its not so simple that some may be against the
    wishes of this.
  • With this film, starts off slow as we get to know
the characters and catch up with the last 10
years of what earth has become, may be too slow
for some peoples liking. The last half picks up
the pace with all action packed into the end,
although seems a little too much. Although CGI
was good, I feel a little more action content
could have been spread out a little in the film
as the film main highlight and focus seemed to be
    on the special effects.
  • On January 7, 2014, the studio announced a third
instalment to the franchise with Reeves returning
to direct and co-write along with Bomback, with
    2016 release date.
  • This is a good follow up to the first film with a
smooth transition from first to second film, yet
I believe that the action will most likely be in
the third instalment. I have high hopes that the
upcoming film will do some justice for the lack
of the fast peace in the current instalment.
