Title: Solutions – Virginia Indoor Air, Things to Consider

Solutions Virginia Indoor Air, Things to
Consider
2
  • The climate in Virginia is as varied as the
seasons of the year. Humid one minute, windy the
next with a snow storm or two thrown in. Is it
any wonder that grave and careful consideration
needs to be given to indoor air options.

3
  • Whether you own or are renting or you own your
home, the quality of your indoor air both its
purity and its level of coolness or warmth is
going to be a concern. A heating and cooling
system can do more than just raise and lower the
    heat in your home.

4
  • It can also have a tremendous impact on the
quality of the air that you breath inside your
home. Poor or inadequate ventilation can have a
significant effect on the quality of your indoor
air as it would allow the pollutants, allergens
that find their way inside, pet dander - that are
generated within your home to remain inside for
    longer periods.

5
  • With what we've learned so far, it's safe to say
that there are problems associated with your
indoor air supply. What we need to do now is take
a look at possible solutions for Virginia indoor
air and just how these solutions might be applied
    to your own home.

7
  • The first possible solution is to control the
pollutants that might occur indoors get rid of
the individual sources. The smoking, wood burning
stoves or even fireplaces. Get an indoor air
auditor to assess the insulation, as well as
    possible asbestos in the home.

8
  • The second thing you could do would be to
ventilate your home a little more open windows,
let the kitchen and or bathroom exhaust fans run
to help get the stale air moving.

9
  • Check and where applicable change the filters.
Most homeowners actually don't change the air
filters in their homes as often as they should
and this is an easy to ensure quality air
    indoors.

10
  • If the heating system in your home is a bit on
the older side then the chances are more than
good that the quality of the air that you and
your family are breathings isn't as good as it
    could or even should be.

  • After about 10 years of operation, your heating
system becomes a cesspool of germs and other
pollutants that can get you and the members of
your family sick. Your home heater should be
    checked/services ever 12 24 months.

13
  • This test can include parts being changed, the
entire system getting flushed. The ultimate aim
at the end of the day is to ensure that your
heating system is working at peak efficiency. Two
of the main things that should be looked at as a
classic heating system is the defrost control, as
    well as the coolant.

14
  • The coolant is what travels through the tubing to
cool your home. The defrost control is directly
related to how cool your home can get.

  • As with most other choices, you will be faced
with when it comes to your home, make an informed
decision. At least have a general idea as to what
you are dealing with so that in the end, you can
make the best possible choice for you and your
    family.
