• Excavation work began for in January 2004 and
  ended on September 2009.
• In just 1,325 days burj Khalifa became the
  tallest free-standing structure in the world.

• Around 10,000-12,000 workers, mostly poor
  migrants from South Asia, built the Burj.
• Some workers reported making less than 10 USD a
  day.
• It was also common practice for employers in
  Dubai to confiscate workers passports.
