Title: Thinking Outside of The Hearing Aid
1Thinking Outside of The Hearing Aid
- Ive had a hearing loss for the last 38 years,
ever since I got a severe case of amoebic
dysentery in Central America and was given sulfa
drugs, which killed the amoebic parasites but
also killed off a lot of my hearing nerve
endings. That was a major loss in my life that
led to a lot of discouragement and difficulty in
learning to cope with a major loss of one of my
main senses.
2I did what everyone did back thenI looked into
hearing aids. And for the last 38 years, I
relied on about 12 different hearing aids. I
went through times when I was very discouraged
with what I was hearing with hearing aids. I
tried analog aids, and then dabbled with the
digitals when they came outfelt like I was
getting too much sound digitizing and then came
back to analogs. And todayIm using an old
Siemens Intuis SP behind the ear hearing aid that
seems to be the best match for me hearing
loss. Six years agoI made an astonishing
discoverythat unbeknownst to bethere was MORE
than a just hearing aid. I was ending my
contracting business as a tile and marble
contractor and I wanted to get into a business
that would enable me to work at home and use my
marketing creativity skills more. SoI Googled
Hearing Accessories, to see if there was anything
else out there besides hearing aids. That was
the astonishing discovery. for the next 3 days,
I just pored over the different Hearing
Accessories that were available that would
ENHANCE what my hearing aids were doing for
me. Who ever thought they would make a sweat
band to cover a hearing aid and protect it from
damage from destructive moisture. I played a
lot of basketball so I had a lot of sweat behind
the ears and needed something to absorb all that
moisture. So my VERY FIRST item I sold from my
new EBAY online store was hearing aid sweat bands.
3Well, I quickly found out I was going to have to
sell about 2,000 of those sweat bands a month
just to pay some operating costs. SoI started
to explore OTHER hearing accessories. I was
truly amazed to find out that there were OVER
2,000 HEARING ACCESSORIES I could choose
fromeverything from vibrating alarm clocks to
shake me awake from sleep when I wasnt wearing
my hearing aidsto wireless TV Amplifier systems
that would give me louder, clearer TV sound while
allowing the other watchers to listen at a much
lower volume. I was seeing more smiles than ever
from those who use to grind their teeth and roll
their eyes when I would crank the TV volume up
and drive everyone away. So today,
my MyHearGear EBAY and website store sells over
1500 innovative, quality assistive listening
products that have totally revolutionized my
hearing experience- Yep, I still have my trusty
old Siemens hearing aids helping me alongbut now
Ive been exposed to about 1500 other ways to
make my hearing experience more than just turn by
hearing aid up and down. As a hearing impaired
person who has learned to think outside the
box, I invite you to venture outside the
hearing aid and discover the amazing hearing
enhancement products that are waiting for you to
discover, try out, and be enriched by. Article
