How To Prepare for Your In-Class Essay?
2
Learn to Write Faster
  • If you have a timed essay to complete in class,
then you must develop the ability to write
quickly. You can develop this skill by practising
daily. Make up a writing prompt based on what you
are studying in class. Set the timer for 10
minutes and write freely on that topic. Learn to
write as you think. The purpose is to get the
ideas to flow smoothly and to record them quickly
    on paper.

3
Plan Your Essay
  • Even with the limited amount of time, you should
spend some of it planning your essay before you
start writing. This involves generating and
writing an outline or concept map to structure
the essay. Preparing an outline will save your
time in the long run, as you will have a detailed
plan as you write. This can help you to avoid
suddenly coming to a stop and not knowing what to
    discuss next. CLICK HERE

Use Quotes
  • When you are developing your writing assignment,
support your arguments and key points with
textual evidence, such as quotes from the text.
This will make your essay look really solid. For
every main point, you should give a couple of
examples. So, if you do not want to lose time
searching for the right quote, have a list of
quotes and their page numbers ready in advance.

5
Write a Summary Paragraph
  • Keep a check on the time. When you notice that
you have ten minutes remaining, you should start
writing a conclusion that rephrases your thesis
statement and sum ups your main arguments.

6
Edit and Proofread
  • You should have at least five minutes to look
thorough your writing assignment before turning
it in. Leave enough time to proofread your paper
for spelling, grammar, and clarity issues. This
will help boost your grade. If you find writing
an in-class essay difficult, practice writing
    skills at home.
