  • Our freelancer of the week is María Silvia
Domeniconi. The SAP Consultant grew up and lives
in Argentina and has been a freelancer for three
years now. There has not been one client who has
not offered me to stay in the company as a

  • 1) First off, can you tell us a bit about
    yourself?
  • My name is María Silvia Domeniconi. I am an SAP
Consultant with expertise in full cycle

certificated in FI and CO modules and continued
developing my skills within this area. I am from

career life in Buenos Aires, but recently I moved
    to my hometown San Luis.

new phase of my career as a freelancer I have
worked for the International Development Bank
(Washington DC), Mercadolibre (Buenos Aires) and
also for the New Enterprises from Ys"og
    Entrepreneurs from San Luiss Government
Programved to my home town San Luis. I have been
freelancing since I and CO modulesoung
Entrepreneurs" Government Program in San Luis.

  • 3) What was your inspiration and when did you
actually decide to become a freelancer?
  •  I started to think about becoming a freelancer
after working as an internal consultant in
ExxonMobil Corporation (I was the Supervisor of
the SAP Support Team in the Tax and Reporting
Analysis Center) as I was looking for more
    challenging opportunities.
  •  I started freelancing part time while I was
working for a company (Grupo Slots) as a
permanent ERP analyst. But as of 2014 I freelance
    full time.

  •  I am an experienced Consultant with over 7 years
    of experience in SAP Configuration,

Management as well as in site or remote Support
of SAP FI, encompassing various projects, some of
which are full implementation cycles from Blue
    Printing to Realization and Go-Live.
  • I have also skills in controlling, planning and
tracking the tasks planned in each phase of a
project and I have proved to have initiative,

  • 4) What kind of services have your clients asked
    you to provide? (Cond)
  • For example, my last client Mercadolibre required
my services for activities such as defining the
scope of several improvement projects and also
its managing, finding problems solutions for none
    standards programs, customizing, developing
    functional specifications, developing user
    manuals, etc.

  • 5) Do you use other freelancers or companies to
provide skills that you dont possess?
  •  I am frequently in contact with other SAP and
non SAP professionals experienced in other areas
I havent worked on. They are a valuable source
for me. I commonly contact colleagues I have
worked with and represent a proven quality type
of professional in terms of professionalism,
    responsibility, strong customer orientation,
technical and business knowledge among other
    things.

  • 6) Now tell us, how do you find new clients that
    are interested in your services?
  •  I find my clients through many different ways.
For example, I have applied for searches in
business networks, I permanently receive job
offers by mail, some colleagues also contact me
when they need a FICO resource and I also took
the initiative and contacted people from the
Government of San Luis (by telephone).

  • 7) What about freelancermap.com? Can you tell us
a little bit about your experience with our
    IT-network?
  • I check freelancermap frequently. I think it is
an excellent site for finding job opportunities.
Nevertheless, in my case I havent found the type
of contract for those jobs that matches my skills
since at this moment I am looking for part time
remote work and, as I have experienced, I believe
the IT market is not prepared yet to relay on all
the tools or applications that are available
nowadays for developing this type of work
relationship (such as skype, gmail hangout tool,
others). Fortunately, the times I worked remotely
for a client, they called me for further work
assignments, as they were very satisfied with my
    work.

  • 8) How do you set yourself apart from your
    competitors? What makes you special?
  • There are a lot of SAP Consultants in the market
but there are very few who have had the
opportunity of participating in so many full
cycle projects as I have. The experience you
obtain in that kind of projects is wide and you
grow a grate deal in every aspect.
  • But knowledge is not everything. You need to be
compromised, assume clients goals as your own,
understand the psychological factors in the team
you are working with and always attempt to
deliver a high quality work. There has not been
one client who has not offered me to stay in the
    company as a permanent employee.

magazines you read to stay up to date in the
    IT-market?

  • 10) Freestyle! Is there anything you would like
    to tell our readers?
  •  I am new in freelancing, and there are a lot of
blogs and forums sharing tips for freelancers. I
find them very useful and I am glad to find I am
already fulfilling the most important aspects. I
have worked in several projects among different
industries and that is one of my strengths.
Clearly, this step in my career comes with new
challenges and that is very motivating for me.
  • Nowadays in Argentina, the monetary type of
exchange makes us very competitive in terms of
rates among the world. I am offering part time
remote services at a competitive and fair rate
considering my expertise and experience. Those
interested can contact me via email.
