1
Utility Terrain Vehicle
2
A UTV is a utility terrain vehicle and having one
can come in very handy.
3
But since of most of us have never owned one,
there are some things to keep in mind when you
are looking to make a purchase.
4
As with purchasing a car or a motorcycle, the
first decision you need to make is whether you
are going to buy a new UTV or a used one.
5
Of course, there are pros and cons to both.
6
There Are Many Utility Terrain Vehicle Brands To
Choose From
7
There are many UTV brands on the market to choose
from.
8
Some of these brands are well known, such as
Polaris, Kawasaki or Yamaha.
9
There are other brands on the market that most
of us have never heard of.
10
Regardless of the brand that you have an interest
in, I recommend that you do some research on the
Internet as a first step in you purchase process.
11
Look at the specifications of different models,
look at the price of each model and or course
look at reviews to see what those who have
purchased a particular model before you think of
that particular utility terrain vehicle.
12
When you buy a new unit from a dealership you
have the comfort of dealing with an established
and trusted seller.
13
Your UTV will come with a warranty.
14
It will also come with a higher price tag.
15
Buying A Utility Terrain Vehicle From An
Individual Seller
16
If you are planning on buying a used UTV from an
individual seller, you will need to be more
cautious.
17
The first question that I would ask the seller
is, "Why are you selling?" Just sit back and
listen for any clues that may give you reason to
be weary of that seller.
18
Not all sellers of used UTV's are going to be
honest about why they are selling or honest about
the history or condition of the UTV itself.
19
So be on guard.
20
If you are comfortable with the seller and their
response to your question about why they are
selling, the next thing that I would ask them for
are the maintenance records.
21
If the current owner has taken the UTV to a
dealer for service then the records will most
likely be complete and you can feel confident the
work done on it was done so by a trained
professional.
22
If the seller says that they have done the
service on the UTV themselves, then ask them what
it is that they have done the frequency of oil
changes, the brands of products used to help in
making the repairs and if they had a service
schedule that they had personally maintained.
23
Look at the unit and check for damage such as a
bent frame or any rust that has accumulated.
24
If everything looks good up to this point then
take it for a test ride.
25
If that goes well, you may just find yourself
being the new owner of utility terrain vehicle of
your very own.
