  • Overview of Organization

The Pennsylvania American Legion is located in
Wormleysburg, Pennsylvania. The Legion's
objective is to serve the community and the State
of Pennsylvania. Our vision is to continue to
provide services for our veterans who are
homeless or at risk of homelessness. The
Pennsylvania American Legion has been providing
services and programs advocating for Veteran's
affairs since 1919 and wishes to continue to
provide transitional and permanent housing, job
training, education, and social services support
for many more years to come ("Housing for
Homeless Veterans", 2013).

  • Program Design

One of several goals is to help break the cycle
of homeless Veterans by giving these individual
helpful options that may have been overlooked.
These options are divided into four phases to set
a more realistic goal. These phases are
transitional to permanent housing, medical care,
training, and job placement, and counseling.

  • Phase one is designed to address transitional to
    permanent housing.
  • Phase two is set up to address medical care for
    veterans who may have neglected his or her health
    because of homelessness or inability to afford
    care.
  • Phase three is designed to counsel homeless
    veterans that suffer from Post Traumatic stress
    disorder, and substance abuse.
  • Phase four is set up to address job training
    skills and job placement for homeless veterans.
