1
How To Keep Your Vehicle Running Cool In Hot
Weather
2
It is the beginning of August here is Texas and
the temperature today is going to be over 100
degrees.
3
As drivers the first thing we think about on a
day like this, is how we can stay cool while
driving.
4
Fortunately, almost every vehicle on the road
today comes equipped with built in air
conditioning that even on the hottest day is
capable of keeping the inside of our vehicle nice
an comfortable.
5
It is usually somewhat of an afterthought that
we think about the importance of keeping our
engine running cool as well.
6
And this is very important, because if our
engine overheats, then it will not be long until
the nice cool air being produced inside our
vehicles is going to stop flowing.
7
Coolant Works To Keep Your Vehicle Running Cool
8
I went for a swim in my pool this morning and
even though it was very hot, the water was cool
and refreshing.
9
Our engines need to be cool and refreshed as
well and this is accomplished in part by the use
of engine coolant.
10
In order to be certain that the coolant is
prepared to do its job, vehicle owners should
flush their system and replace the coolant on the
schedule that is recommended by the manufacturer
of their vehicle.
11
Vehicle owners may also consider using a
radiator coolant additive, which is designed to
help to prevent overheating, improve engine
performance and keep the cooling system clean.
12
Every vehicle on the road has a number of belts
and hoses built into it.
13
All it takes is one of these belts or hoses to
break or crack and bad things can happen very
quickly.
14
Don't touch these belts or hoses directly after
you have been driving your vehicle as they become
very hot from use.
15
When your vehicle has been sitting for a while,
every so often take a look at them and see if you
can identify any cracks in the belts of leaks
from the hoses.
16
Besides your coolant, make sure that your other
fluids are meeting their minimum required levels.
17
Periodically check your brake fluid, power
steering fluid, transmission fluid and your
engine oil levels.
18
These various fluids all play a part in helping
to keep your vehicle running as cool as possible
in hot weather.
19
Your Battery Also Helps To Keep Your Vehicle
Running Cool
20
And don't forget your battery if you wish to keep
your vehicle running cool.
21
It needs fluid as well.
22
Hot weather can evaporate battery fluid and low
levels of battery fluid can damage the batteries
internal plates and speed up the corrosion
process.
23
Follow these steps to keep you vehicle running
cool and it will reward you with the nice
refreshing air conditioning that we all crave
while driving.
