• Recently, N.I.D.A also known as National
  Institute on Drugs Abuse studied the trends of
  drug use by teenagers in todays schools. The
  studies cover research conducted on teens of
  grade 12. Here is what the stats look like

• On an average, there are 32 students enrolled in
  grade 12 in a school. Out of these 32 students
• 8 students have consumed an illicit drug in the
  past two months
• 12 students have consumed more than one drug in
  the past one year
• 15 students have consumed at least one drug in
  their life so far
• 21.4 of students have consumed marijuana
• 1 out 5 seniors are smoking marijuana
• 19.2 are addicted to smoking

• After the use of marijuana, over-the-counter
  medications and drug prescriptions account for
  the top abused drugs by teens in the past one
  year. These drugs include
• Vicodin 8
• Cold medicines 6.6
• Adderall 6.5
• Tranquilizers 5.6
• Ritalin 2.7
