  • Should I go for a wireless hearing aid or a CROS
hearing aid? Behind-the-ear or in-the-ear? With
today's advanced hearing aid technologies, not
only have the people with hearing impairment,
deafness and hearing loss been provided
    innovatively efficient solutions, but they've
also been offered a number of styles and options
to choose according to their hearing needs.
  • That being said, a person looking for hearing
aids may have a few concerns regarding whether
the aid would really help or how it will look.
  • Well, keeping everything aside, the best hearing
aid would be the one that you are comfortable
wearing and suits all your hearing needs.

  • Here, take a look at some common hearing aid
    styles.
  • In-the-Ear (ITE)
  • These range in different sizes from half shell
style, one that fills only the lower part of your
outer ear to full shell that fills in the
bowl-shaped area of your outer ear. Both the
styles contain directional microphones and volume
control that are easier to adjust, and are
appropriate for people with mild to acute hearing
    loss.
  • Behind-the-Ear (BTE)
  • As the name suggests, the aid contains a
microphone case that rests behind the ear. The
microphone is connected to a custom earpiece
(earmold) via a clear thin tube that fits in the
ear canal. BTE is a traditional style that is
appropriate for all age groups and is considered
the most flexible and highly effective.

  • In-the-Canal (INC)
  • The style is custom molded in a tiny case that
fits partly in the ear canal. They are one of the
smallest aids available and can improve mild to
    profound hearing loss in adults.
  • Completely-in-the-Canal (CIC)
  • This aid style is molded to fit completely inside
the ear canal. Being the smallest and least
visible style, CIC aids are commonly considered
to improve different levels of hearing loss.
  • Receiver-in-Canal (RIC)
  • With the receiver in the canal or ear, the
receiver-in-canal style is quite similar to
behind-the-ear aids. However, unlike BTE style,
RIC aids use thin wires to connect the ear pieces.

  • Open-Fit (BTE)
  • A variation of behind-the-ear aid, open-fit style
includes a very thin tube that runs into the ear
to connect to a small tip that holds it in place.
The style uses small and thin ear pieces that
keep the canal very open allowing for
low-frequency sounds to enter the ear naturally.
  • Given the advanced medical technologies, multiple
styles are available in hearing aids that use
cutting edge technologies to fit your specific
    needs and lifestyle.
  • Moreover, if you are looking for hearing aids in
Adelaide or surrounding areas, there are varied
clinics and companies that provide free hearing
assessments and quality hearing aids to improve
hearing impairment in the best way possible.
