Not So Hot Just Keep It Warm
Heating water to warm a room has been an idea
first developed by the Romans. When they expanded
their Empire to its furthest latitude in the UK
these Italian soldiers must have thought this
part of the world was the worst possible
posting. When laying the foundations of a large
property such as a fort or wealthy mans home
some channels were dug before the floor was laid
above. Hot water would be channelled through
these under floor spaces and helped to heat the
floor tiles above. Today under floor heating is

the best option for most properties from
commercial to domestic and often we take it all
for granted. But gas like other fuels is an
increasingly expensive commodity and its
important to use only the bare minimum to reduce
bills. Towel radiator valves are essential to
control the temperature in a room that probably
needs heat the most. After all, this is a place
where we are often naked before showering or
bathing and it can be miserable on a cold
winters morning if it is unheated.

Valves control the temperature as well as timers
ensuring its switched off when you are out at
work or asleep in bed. There is no point in
heating rooms that are not in use even for just a
few hours. The savings that can be made if every
room is controlled properly can be
considerable. Its also worth remembering that
reducing all room temperatures by just one degree
and putting on some extra clothing can save a lot
of money over a year. Most of the year a heated
towel radiator should deliver all the warmth
needed in a small bathroom and the latest
examples are not just very efficient but also
good to look at. As a bathroom gets all the
elements of hot and cold along with water and
steam it makes sense to buy good quality chrome
plated or stainless steel radiator.

Many people moving into an older property with a
central heating system over a certain age now
budget for a complete new one. This is for
several reasons the first being the efficiency of
modern boilers that operate far more efficiently
than some older models. Another reason is the
attractiveness of modern radiator design that can
mean better placement and fitment in awkward
rooms where a horizontal one may fit better into
a restricted space. Whilst doing a complete

pipework will be exposed above the skirting
board. A complete house redecorating program
should allow for the new piping to be chased into
the wall and plastered over. This helps best
