Blue-Ringed Octopus
  • The blue-ringed octopuses are three octopus
species that live in tide pools and coral reefs
in the Pacific and Indian Oceans, from Japan to
    Australia.
  • Their primary habitat is around southern New
South Wales, South Australia, and northern
    Western Australia.
  • They are recognized as one of the world's most
    venomous marine animals.

4
  • They are dangerous to humans if provoked and
handled, because their venom is powerful enough
    to kill humans.

  • When the octopus is agitated, the brown patches
darken dramatically, iridescent blue rings, or
clumps of rings, appear and pulsate within the
    maculae.
  • They hunt small crabs, hermit crabs, and shrimp.

creature that was only recently discovered.
  • It is a previously unknown species of free
     swimming sea cucumber.
  • The aptly named Pink Sea Through Cucumber was
    found in the Celebes Sea.
  • This is a remote area of the western
    Pacific Ocean.
  • The area is bordered by the Sulu Archipelago,
Mindanao Island of the Philippines, the Sangihe

Angler Fish Facts
  • The anglerfish is an ancient taxonomic order of
bony fishes that arose sometime between 100 and
    130 million years ago.
  • Anglerfishes got their name from their method of
earning a living long before human anglers ever
appeared on the planet, anglerfish were skilled
    fishers.

13
  • These fish sit very still and blend in with the
landscape whilst waving a fishing pole with a
flappy lure on the end to attract unsuspecting
animals close enough to their ginormous mouths to
end up becoming the anglerfish's next meal.
  • The strategy is known as "sit and wait" hunting.
  • The glowy-glowy bacteria that colonise some
anglerfishes' esca are symbiotic marine bacteria
that metabolise certain chemicals to create their
    own light, known as bioluminescence.
  • Typically, bathybenthic anglerfishes, which live
in the deepest, darkest reaches of the world's
    oceans rely upon bioluminescent bacterial
    symbionts for their very survival.
