  • What is Forces?
  • Kinds of Forces
  • Forces and Moving Object

  • Measuring the Motion of an Object

3
What is Forces?
4
  • Force is push or a pull upon an object resulting
from the object's interaction with another
    object.
  • Whenever there is an interaction between two
objects, there is a force upon each of the
objects. When the interaction ceases, the two
objects no longer experience the force.
  • strength or energy as an attribute of physical
    action or movement.

5
4 Kinds of Forces
6
  • Gravitational
  • - Gravitational energy is potential energy
    associated with the gravitational field.
  • Electrical
  • -Electrical engineering is a field of
engineering that generally deals with the study
and application of electricity, electronics, and
    electromagnetism.
  • Friction
  • -The resistance that one surface or object
    encounters when moving over another.
  • Magnetic
  • -capable of being attracted by or acquiring the
    properties of a magnet.

7
  • Forces and Moving Object

8
  • Movement depends on the mass of an object
  • Movement depends on the shape of an object
  • Movement depends on the strength of the force
    applied

9
Example
10
Movement depends on the mass of an object
The man has to use more force to move the lorry
than to move the car.
11
Movement depends on the shape of an object
  • c

The boy has to use more force to push the box
than to push the ball.
12
Movement depends on the strength of the force
applied
A man applying more force on a box by pushing it
with both hands. The same man applying less foce
on the same box by pushing it with one hand.

  • Describing the motion of an object

14
  • Describing the motion of an object by its
    position
  • Describing the motion of an object by its
    direction
  • Describing the motion of an object

15
Example
16
Describing the motion of an object by its
position
We can describe the motion of an object by
comparing its position at different times. Let us
look at the motion of two cars, A and B.
  • The position of Car A is different at 10.00 a.m.
And 10.01 a.m. So, Car A has moved.
  • The position of Car B is the same at 10.00 a.m.
and 10.01 a.m. So, Car B has not moved

17
Describing the motion of an object by its
direction
  • We can describe the motion of an object by
specifying the direction in which it is moving.

C
Ex. We can say describe the motionof the girl by
saying that she walks towards the right from
Point A to Point B. Then, she turns left and
walks to Point C
B
A
18
Describing the motion of an objectby its speed
  • We can describe the motion of an object by
specifying the speed at which it is moving.
  • The speed of an object refers to how fast or slow
it is moving. The speed tells ud the distance
travelled by an object in a given time.

Car X moves a greater distance in one hour than
Car Y. So, Car X has a Greater speed than Car Y.
19
Measuring the motion of an object
  • Measuring Distance
  • - Rulers
  • - Measuring tape
  • - Odometer
  • Measuring Speed
  • - Speedometer
