Our Short Film Proposal

Concept
When making the narrative for our short film we
found the films and the TV show listed above as
good comparisons as they had similar conventions
and storylines to our own.

Narrative

• A girl could have been created by a group of
  scientists to act as an experiment of how people
  would cope with the conditions of living on
  another planet.
• Scientists couldve scrapped the idea of sending
  her to another planet and they decided to leave
  to continue an ideal life theyve specially
  created so she doesnt think shes any different.
  
• As going about life she could suffer from some
  type of night terrors/pain but when she seeks for
  help no one cares. She could ask a friend and
  plead for help her friend explains out of an
  accidental outburst that shes not real and that
  she was a prototype for the experiment.
• The girl vanishes and isolates herself from
  everyone shes ever known the ending could be
  her alone about to start a fresh life

Characters

• Mia robot human duplicate. Thinks shes human
  because of a microchip implanted into her
  memories.
• Eliza - best friend
• The scientists shown in flashbacks when truth
  is discovered.
• Anonymous faces of people she is close to and
  knows part of her ideal life, ones that wont
  help her.

Scenes

• Circular narrative
• Scene 1 Either a Shot of Mia on the beach
  isolated and alone or a shot of Mia and Eliza
  planning to take revenge on scientists. After
  this shot there will be mini flashbacks of events
  that have happened leading up to that moment.
• Scene 2 Extreme close up showing that shes in
  pain and having night terrors. During her night
  terrors she starts to remember some of her past
  (unknown to her) that involved the scientists.
• Scene 3 Mia is going about her own life, normal
  and happy, shows phone call between her and
  friend about meeting up (cross cuts).
• Scene 4 Shot of Mia about to leave to meet
  friend, shows the collapse of character after
  feeling a horrific pain which is caused by the
  regain of her memories.
• Scene 5 Mia tries to find help with what is
  happening to her but no one cares or wants to
  help her.
• Scene 6 Mia goes to find her friend to talk
  about what has been happening to her and her
  friend reveals that shes different to everyone
  else. Shes not human.
• Scene 7 - Either a Shot of Mia on the beach
  isolated and alone or Mia and Eliza find out
  about all the scientists and people involved and
  plan for revenge. ( left on a cliff hanger)

Setting/Location/Area

• Flashbacks will be in science labs
• The main characters house
• Best friends house
• Doctors to find help

Costume/Props

• For the main two female characters they will be
  mostly in mundane, everyday clothing.
• The scientist will be dressed in a laboratory
  coat and formal trousers and shoes.

Lighting

• Whilst filming outside will be using natural
  light
• Indoor scene will be shot in high key lighting
• In scene 2 specifically, low key lighting will be
  used.
