Title: Helpful Dental Health Care Tips for Athletes

1
Helpful Dental Health Care Tips for Athletes
2
Athletes
  • Athletes may be at higher risk for dental
erosion. Ironic as it seems, this is the result
of a study conducted by a team of German dental
    researchers.
  • Researchers divided participants into two groups
    - one composed of triathletes and the other are
    non-athletes.
  • Average age for both groups is 36 although the
athletes were found to have leaner bodies.

3
Questionnaires Revealed
  • There was also no difference with their saliva
    samples when they're at rest.
  • However, researchers discovered that athletes who
spend the most time training were also the ones
    with most cavities.
  • Questionnaires also revealed that 51 percent of
the athletes consume water during training
whereas the rest take sports drinks.

4
Keep Cavities At Bay
  • While athletes may be healthier than
non-athletes, it's still good to note that dental
health is part of overall health.
  • And there are ways how you, as an athlete, can
take care of your teeth and keep cavities at bay.

5
Here are some important tips
6
Drink Plenty Of Water
  • While you love your sports drinks and there's no
arguing too that these drinks are good for
athletes, this time, try to rehydrate by drinking
    water instead.
  • Or, make sure to drink water after taking your
    sports drink.
  • When in training, chances are sugar from your
sports drink will sit on your teeth for long
    hours.
  • Drinking water as follow up will help prevent
    this from happening.

7
Switch To Less Sugary Snacks
  • Skip the protein bars and try nuts and seeds for
    your energy snacks.
  • You get to stay away from sugar and still feel
    energized.

8
Keep An Oral Health Care Kit With You
  • Don't let yourself make anymore excuses.
  • Just as you pack your bags before you head out to
go hiking, training, or running, be sure to bring
as well your toothbrush, toothpaste, dental
    floss, and your mouthwash.
  • Don't let your dental health get left behind
while you are making an effort to keep your body
    healthy.

9
Always Brush Your Teeth
  • Just as you take a shower or change into fresh
clothes after a long day of working out, make it
a habit to brush your teeth as well.
  • Or if it's not possible, at least rinse using
    your mouthwash.

10
Caring for Your Dental Health
  • These four important tips may take some time
getting used to, but it will certainly go a long
way to keeping your teeth protected from
    cavities.
  • Living an active lifestyle is good for your body,
but dont forget that caring for your dental
    health is also as important.
