Title: Difference Between Georgette fabric and Chiffon Fabric
1Difference Between Georgette fabric and Chiffon
Fabric
2Georgette and Chiffon are two very popular fabric
that are used to achieve a flowy, princess like
effect. While that sounds cute.
Both fabrics can be woven from silk and polyester
Chiffon is smoother and more lustrous than
georgette fabric
3Georgette Fabric
Georgette fabric is a textile traditionally made
from silk, although synthetic fibers such as
polyester are sometimes used as well. The thing
that makes georgette fabric distinctive is the
crinkly crepe-light texture, which feels slightly
rough and dull, but gives the fabric a bouncy,
flowing look. Many clothing fabric stores carry
georgette fabric in a range of colors and prints
for various projects.
The crepe-like texture of georgette fabric makes
it very springy, so that the fabric almost
appears to move on its own. It also drapes very
well, making it a popular choice for women's
fashions in which clingy, flowing fabrics are
favored. Layers of georgette fabric may be used
for a fanciful effect, especially in gowns.
4Chiffon Fabric
Lightweight and absorbent, Chiffon will keep you
comfortable in the summer as well as warm in the
winter since it holds warm air close to your skin.
Chiffon fabric is most commonly used in evening
wear, especially as an overlay, for giving an
elegant and floating appearance to the gown. It
is also a popular fabric used in blouses,
ribbons, scarves and lingerie.
Chiffon is made from cotton, silk, or synthetic
fibers. Under a magnifying glass it resembles a
fine net or mesh which gives chiffon some
see-through properties.
