How to care for Skin Wound
Skin wounds, including animal bite or human bites
need through cleaning to reduce the risk of any
kind of skin and bacterial infection. You will
have to do this for minor wounds, stop any
bleeding, clean the wound, and perhaps bandage
the wound. Wound Care Australia has wide range of
wound care products that provide improved
outcomes in wound healing. There are few wound
care tips that you can use by yourself to heal
the wound. Stop the BleedingBefore you, clean the
wound first stop the bleeding. There are some
medical gloves if available you can use them to
the wound. If gloves are not available, then put
something else on wound. Keep holding direct
pressure on the wound if possible and elevate the
injured area. If the area swells, then remove
clothing or jewelry around the wound. Apply
pressure for full 15 minutes. Continue pressure
the wound till bleeding not stops. If wound gets
bleeding, then proper Wound Care should be there
to stop the bleeding. Clean the Wound Rinse the
wound for at least 5 to 10 minutes if you are not
going to see your doctor right now. Wash your
hands well with soap or water. Wash the wound
under running water. Then scrub the wound gently
with a wash cloth. If you have a water sprayer in
your kitchen, then better if you can use that.
Large, minor dirty wounds may be easier to clean
in the shower. Bandage the Wound
To get protected your wound from dirt or
infection you should bandage your wound. There
are many products available in the market so
choose the bandage carefully. Better if you can
use the product manufacture by Medstock, they
have quality and effective dressings
like Hydrocolloid Dressing, Foam Dressing etc.
But be sure that you have thoroughly clean the
wound. If the bandage gets wet or soiled put on a
new.   When to Get StitchesAn easy test to
check the wound is stopping the bleeding, wash
the wound well and then press the sides of the
wound. If the edges of the wound come together
and it looks better you may want to consider
getting stitches. If stitches may be needed then
avoid using an antiseptic or antibiotic ointment
until after the doctor has examined the wound.
Most of the cuts that require treatment should be
stitched, stapled or closed with skin adhesives.
Like a cut from a clean object such as kitchen
knife may be stitched from 12 to 24 hours after
the injury.
