Title: Evaluation Q4

1
How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and
evaluation stages?
  • Making is Connecting

2
Web 2.0
  • David Gauntlett published media studies 2.0, this
book describes that web 2.0 audiences can be
    brought together through there creativity.
  • Instead of a producer producing a static page for
a consumer to look at, the internet became
interactive and everyone could become a producer.
He sees digital technology as a extremely
positive thing as it brings people together.
  • Traditional form of media studies teaching and
research fails to recognise the changing media
landscape in which the categories of 'audiences'
and 'producers' blur together, and in which new
research methods and approaches are needed.

What I have used
4
Blogger
I have used Blogger to present my work to my
teacher and peers. It allows me to display a
plethora of multi media in one place. If this
technology was not available I would have had to
simply write about what I had done rather than
have it easily accessible on my blog. Both photos
and videos are easily viewed on my blog and
various other forms of media.
5
Youtube
  • Youtube was useful in both the research and
planning stage and the main production.
  • During my research it allowed me to watch short
films to understand genre and narrative, also to
give me ideas of what to do for our short film
  • I also used YouTube to upload clips of me talking
about my work to personalise my blog to me.

6
InDesign
  • InDesign was absolutely essential in my first
year as I used it to create my entire magazine
  • It is a very useful piece of software as you can
completely mimic all conventions of a magazine,
    making it look professional
  • It is also very easy to edit your magazine with
the drawing board on the outside

7
Photoshop
  • Photoshop has been absolutely crucial throughout
    my media course
  • In my first year it allowed me to edit photos use
for my magazine, letting me make my magazine look
    much more professional
  • It has also been useful for the same function in
my second year as I could edit images that were
    used in my ancillary tasks.
  • Below you can see that I used photoshop to make
my images black and white and to edit in a brick
    background

Evaluation
  • Digital technology has made our work and roles
much easier when creating our film as a group or
    when doing individual tasks
  • Software such as Adobe premier has enabled us to
improve out short film and make them better for
our audience through the use of the editing
tools, addition of sound files and effects,
whilst photoshop has been crucial when creating
poster for my ancillary tasks, as it allowed me
to edit images with a plethora of tools.
  • The internet has been absolutely indispensable
and is second to none for research, it made my
research and planning considerably easier. I was
able to research into our audience and it allowed
me to find inspiration and examples for our short
    film.
  • Furthermore, the technologies allow us to be more
a prosumer, as we are able to conduct what out
film is, through our audience research. This
complies with David Gauntletts theory as I have
been able to be more creative and connect with
    our audience.
  • Overall, new media technology allows us to be
more creative with pieces of work, whilst being
able to present them in multiple different
    manners.
