• VuGen was really showing its age as a
  development environment, so HP RD in Israel has
  spent a huge amount of effort in developing an
  completely new VuGen. VuGen 11.50 is based on an
  open source IDE called Sharp Develop. The Sharp
  Develop IDE will be the basis for several of HPs
  software testing products, including Quick Test
  Pro, Service Test, and Service Virtualization
  Designer.

• Load Runner is a software used in various
  organizations for examining system behavior and
  performance. It is able to simulate the situation
  when hundreds of thousands of users use the
  application at the same time, while collecting
  key information from infrastructure components
  like servers. After you can analyze the results
  in detail to find the areas for improvement or
  limitations of an application.

Load Runner is a tool for performance
monitoring. It can tell you that under how much
load, and after how much time, what an
applications behavior is. What it cannot tell
you is what was the origin of the problem, or
that was this problem even a software problem, or
a mere hardware configuration issue. (To be fair,
HP itself says that Load Runner is able to
provide only 10 of the actual diagnostics
information.)
