Attorney-generalĀ is the main legal advisor to
theĀ government, and in some jurisdictions they
may also have executive responsibility forĀ law
enforcement, prosecutions or even responsibility
for legal affairs generally. In practice, the
extent to which the attorney-general personally
provides legal advice to the government varies
between jurisdictions, and even between
individual office-holders within the same
jurisdiction, often depending on the level and
nature of the office-holder's prior legal
experience.

The president appoints a person who is qualified
to be appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court to
be Attorney - General for India. To be qualified
to be a Supreme Court judge, A person must be a
citizen of India. He/She has been for at least
five years a Judge of as High Court or two or
more than two such courts or He/She has been for
at least ten years an advocate of a High Court or
of two or more than two such courts or He/She is,
in the opinion of the President, a distinguished
jurist.
