Title: Can Semitrucks Park Here
1Can Semitrucks Park Here
2Semitrucks can be very annoying when you are
driving on the road.
3 Especially when they are on smaller back roads
they are not suppose to be on.
4 One day I was trying to get home from a friends
house who lives in the next neighborhood over.
5 I was taking my usual route going down a small
main road through the middle of the neighborhood,
when I saw a semitruck blocking both lanes of
traffic.
6 He was unloading some freight for a customer who
lived in one of the houses along the road.
7 The way the semi parked completely blocked off
the entire road.
8 A line of cars started to form on each side and
everyone was starting to get angry.
9 Some of the people started to honk their horns
after about 5 minutes of waiting.
10 I just gave up and turned around because it
looked like the semi was going to be in the way
for a while.
11 A drive that usually takes me 5 minutes took me
almost 20 just because a semitruck was parked in
the neighborhood where is was not suppose to be.
12Semitrucks Within Residential Areas
13Normally it is illegal to park a truck over 1-1/2
tons with a residential area.
14 There is a rule where they are allowed to park
if they are in the process of loading or
unloading passengers or freight.
15 So, that semitruck that was in my neighborhood
was legally parked.
16 He could have at least parked where he was only
blocking one lane instead of them both.
17Dallas and Parking Semitrucks Illegally
18Code Compliance asked for PWT Parking management
assistance in addressing complaints about
commercial truck parking in residential areas.
19 The Dallas Parking management dedicated two
parking enforcement officers (PEO).
20 Their job is to respond to specific complaints
and to patrol for these violations on a citywide
basis.
21Fines For Semitrucks in Residential Areas
22The Dallas Code says when there is a violation a
citation is always issued, if the driver is not
present the vehicle will automatically be towed.
23 It is also an offense to park a motor home,
house trailer, or recreational vehicle over 1-1/2
tons on a public right of way.
24 A residential area means any block face
containing a single family, duplex, or
multi-family home.
25 There will be a 25 fine plus the option to tow
the vehicle located on the public right of way.
