workplace. Chemical Handling Safety Teaches
employees how they can handle dangerous chemicals
safely by knowing what they are working with, how

Lab Risk Assessment The purpose of Laboratory
Safety Awareness Training is to provide the
participant with tools for performing risk
assessments in laboratories handling infectious
materials. The training provides participants
with the opportunity to perform a risk assessment
in a simulated micro bacteriology laboratory
under the guidance of experts. Although a micro
bacteriology laboratory is used for the training
exercise, the principles and practices
illustrated are applicable to other specialties
and should be complemented with the Blood-borne
Pathogens Exposure Control Training.

Laboratory Safety Studying or working in a
teaching or research laboratory presents unique
safety challenges. Hazardous materials are
abundant, and lab workers handle a greater
variety of hazardous substances than do most
other professionals. This training covers the
OSHA Chemical Hygiene Plan requirements and
advises on how to achieve and maintain
compliance.   Laser Safety This training kit

Radiation Safety Radiation safety is a required
training for all individuals who wish to use
radioactive materials under the University
licenses. This training covers the basic
theoretical aspects of radiation safety. For new
users a hands-on training is also required.

covers how biological safety cabinets work, rules
and guidelines for work preparation, cabinet
procedures, and cleanup operations and techniques
for avoiding contamination while using a
biological safety cabinet.

Safe Use of Fume hoods This training will cover
and identify the unsafe activities that may occur
within a lab. Scientific laboratories are
equipped with fume hoods in order to improve the
level of safety of people conducting experiments
with products that would represent a threat to
the health, and possibly the life, of someone
using the products in some unprotected way.
Working in a laboratory is a high-risk activity,
and there are a number of things that can make
