the earth orbits the Sun as well as the tilt of
the axis.

The winter solstice would be the shortest day
of year, meaning the very least amount of
sunlight the Sun reaches its most southern
reason the sky at local noon. After this date,
the times start getting longer, i.e., the
quantity of daylight starts to increase fall
equinox in 2016!
5
On the vernal equinox, for 24 hours are each
approximately 12 hours long (together with the
actual use of equal nighttime and daytime, from
the Northern Hemisphere, occurring several days
before the vernal equinox).
6
On the summertime solstice, we love to the most
daylight from the calendar year. The Sun reaches
its most northern part of the sky at local noon.
After this date, the periods start getting
shorter, i.e., the duration of daylight sets
out to decrease. See our First Day of Summer
page!
7
On the autumnal spring equinox, nighttime and
daytime are each about 12 hours long (while using
actual duration of equal almost all the time,
inside the Northern Hemisphere, occurring 2 or 3
days after the autumnal equinox) When is fall
2016?. The Sun crosses the celestial equator
going southward it rises exactly due east and
sets exactly due west.
8
The Winter SolsticeWinter inspires both joy
and woe. Some people cant wait for cooler
weather, snow, skiing and skate boarding, curling
up with a fire, along with the holiday spirit.
Other people dislike the frigid temperatures,
blizzards, and wild weather.
9
The word solstice emanates from the Latin
words for sun and to stand still. In the
Northern Hemisphere, as summer advances to
winter, the points above where the Sun rises and
sets advance southward everyday
10
At winter months solstice, the Suns path has
reached its southernmost position. The next day,
the way will advance northward. However, a couple
of days before and following your winter
solstice, the advance is so slight the Suns path
may seem to stay the same, or stand still.

the Northern Hemisphere, it takes place around
December 21 or 22. (In the Southern Hemisphere,
