Did You Know?...
From February to May of 2015, the IRS was hacked.
Over 610,000 taxpayers had their identity stolen,
which resulted in 15,000 fraudulent returns being
submitted and over 50 million dollars of
fraudulent refunds being paid out.
In response, the IRS issued 330,000 security pins
to taxpayers who were affected, but not to the
other 280,000.
Currently, the IRS is hunting those responsible,
including a theory the attacks originated from
Russia.

Did You Know?...
Target has been hacked many times and continues
to be hacked, but the 2013 hack in December just
before Christmas was staggering. Here are some
of the numbers
40 Million credit/debit cards, 70 Million
accounts Mailing addresses, Names, Email
Address, and Phone numbers. These were stolen for
5 long months.
200 Million dollars, the estimated cost to
creditors and banks to reissue 21.8 million
cards. In May of this year, target settled out of
court for 19 millions dollars in a class action
lawsuit to creditors and banks.
100 million dollars promised to reissue new cards
with Chip-and-Pin technology. With this 2013
hack, it still wouldnt have prevented any cards
from being stolen.
ZERO, Chief Information Security Officer or Chief
Security Officer personal employed by target.

Did You Know?...
It is getting harder and harder to protect our
privacy and data. The latest major company to
fall victim to hackers in the last two years,
eBay. In February and March of 2014, the company
had a server targeted because it contained users,
passwords, and user information. This including
name, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses,
and debit and credit cards.
eBay insisted that none of their customers
financial data were stolen or compromised, though
the 145 million users might disagree with that
statement. Users were asked to change their
passwords, and eBay has never publicly addressed
how they planned to stop these attacks.

Did You Know?...
Own a Samsung or Android phone? You might want
to check these out
Samsung uses a third party software for your
keyboard and word prediction, that can allow
hackers to spy on you, even access or delete your
data. All S models, including the S6s and
Notes, are affected. Not a Samsung owner? Many
other Android phone manufactures use the same
software, 950 million phones are estimated to be
affected by the software flaw, STILL being used
today.
Samsung S6, S6 Edge or Note 4 all contain a
baseband chip in the handsets that allow hackers
to intercept, listen, and even record your calls
by using a Man In The Middle Attack (MITM).

Avoid bad links Check where a link is taking
you before you click it. Rest your mouse cursor
on the link (don't click!) and examine the
address. If it is supposed to take you to
"Music.com" but will take you instead to
"x78vyt.net," it's suspect.  Don't fall for
phishing scams We all know to ignore emails from
our distant Nigerian uncle prince in need of a
wire transfer. But more modern scams use all
sorts of bait. They pose as your bank, email
provider or social media sites. But banks won't
ask to reset your password via email. And threats
to "shut down your account" are highly
questionable.  Don't download from unknown
sources Only pull files from websites you trust.
You're literally accepting an unopened box from
someone else.
